I'm afraid that when the driver blew the whistle as he came into Vic, I did feel the tears start to come ! No other train in the station could make that noise.
As a keen locospotter in the steam era I had always hoped to see Britannia in the raw before being scrapped. Amazingly, in 1964, I came home from school and found her relegated to freight duty on the nearby line. I thought ‘How the mighty have fallen’. Nevertheless, I went to bed happy that night.
Robert Riddles great design when I was a baby. Loved them as a lad age 12-14. But dieselisation was the way forward. So many good locos that could have worked into the late 1980s.
I read a very amusing comment in one of my magazines that the Standard class with their high running plates looked as though they..‘were being throttled’..!!!!!!
I remember it being restored at the savern valley railway .many of my pocket money in the restoration box . Never been able to see it .since .don't even now where it runs .
How could you not love a Britannia. What a gorgeous locomotive.
Ist DIE schön ! Eleganz, Kraft, Schnelligkeit und Rasse, verkörpert in dieser Lok !

I loved the Evening Star with its gold pipes
Well looked after in top notch condition just like they were when stabled at Norwich 😊
Ditto Cardiff Canton
Cracking video of a lovely engine 👍👍👍
Thanks
why didn't they let the steam Loco haul from the front instead of being dragged?

73A shed code - Stewarts Lane - is a nice detail.

I think you mean the Severn Valley Railway.
I'm honestly amazed that such a relic like that even still works in the modern day...
It takes a lot of time and very hard work to keep these Locos working
I found that the Brittania class needed those smoke detectors, they looked terrible without them!
Smoke DETECTORS ???
