    The game looks as tedious as anything, but I'm impressed by the Amstrad CPC version's colourful graphics. I only ever experienced my neighbour's CPC with a green screen and Roland on the Ropes and Animal, Vegetable, Mineral was about as good as it got in their game collection. I've seen a few videos of CPC games that I never knew existed or could look so good.

    Once again impressed with the color on CPC. Brilliant palette.

    Nice video! I miss having a run through the second load of the game, which is far more interesting than the first one.

    Raro que en msx sea un port directo del spectrum. Poseedor en la epoca del msx no entendia porque los unicos juegos "coloridos" eran los de konami. Ahora de viejo me doy cuenta que eran port directos de spectrum 😅

    I remember playing FREDDY HARDEST on my Commodore 64 as a tape version.
    It was so hard and frustrating,
    I didn't even make through the first level 😹.
    I also played its sequel,
    FREDDY HARDEST IN SOUTH MANHATTAN, on my Amiga 500,
    and it was like... OH MY MEOWING GOD 😹!

      It was very frustrating for me too. I think C64 is the hardest version.

    The MS DOS version is the most detailed despite having less colors

      They did a great job with those ugly colors! (I grew up DOS so I am allowed to call them ugly). Actually a rare case the colors might have actually "worked" and for the scenery!

    1. AMSTRAD
    2. SPECTRUM
    3. COMMODORE

    Lo disfruté en la época dorada del software español aunque en CPC tenia mejor colorido la version de C64 tenia scroll por hardware aunque la paleta del C64 es inferior al CPC...el port de PC tenia mayor resolución pero la tarjeta CGA de 4 colores era inferior a las paletas de CPC y C64...

    I knew the MSX and Spectrum versions would share the same graphics, but the MSX version is actually quite a bit slower isn't it?

      The usual low effort Port😬

    • @gwishart
      @gwishart 11 месяцев назад +4

      From a quick poke around in the machine code, it looks like it's actually using an off-screen memory buffer that's laid out in the same format as the Spectrum's (slightly odd) screen, and then running an extra routine to convert that into an MSX screen format before copying it to screen every frame.
      It was probably done like this so they could re-use all the same graphics data and drawing routines from the Spectrum version, but the extra copying and translation process obviously slows things down.

      @plume... 11 месяцев назад +2

      @@gwishart wow, thanks for the explanation. Definitely makes sense why it's slightly slower!

    I would say cpc is pretty good: colorful,reasonable smooth too bad there's very little soundwise.
    That cga only dos port is fugly

    You gotta appreciate the smoothness of C64 version, while all others are kind of crawling and stuttering. CGA port is not that ugly as CGA games tend to be.
