The game looks as tedious as anything, but I'm impressed by the Amstrad CPC version's colourful graphics. I only ever experienced my neighbour's CPC with a green screen and Roland on the Ropes and Animal, Vegetable, Mineral was about as good as it got in their game collection. I've seen a few videos of CPC games that I never knew existed or could look so good.
Once again impressed with the color on CPC. Brilliant palette.
Nice video! I miss having a run through the second load of the game, which is far more interesting than the first one.
I remember playing FREDDY HARDEST on my Commodore 64 as a tape version.
It was so hard and frustrating,
I didn't even make through the first level 😹.
I also played its sequel,
FREDDY HARDEST IN SOUTH MANHATTAN, on my Amiga 500,
and it was like... OH MY MEOWING GOD 😹!
It was very frustrating for me too. I think C64 is the hardest version.
¡Qué talento tenían los chicos de Dinamic!
Echo de menos esa época 😢
The MS DOS version is the most detailed despite having less colors
They did a great job with those ugly colors! (I grew up DOS so I am allowed to call them ugly). Actually a rare case the colors might have actually "worked" and for the scenery!
1. AMSTRAD
2. SPECTRUM
3. COMMODORE
Concuerdo.
also called porno freddy, epic game but the c64 version just looks done a bit effortless to me, the colours are way off apparently
I wonder if he's related to Captain Stern?
Do Gremlin Graphics' North Star comparison. There were at least four versions of it if my memory serves me, for the speccy, the cpc, c64 and st
I like the idea. Thanks
one of the 8 times a game was superior on the AMSTRAD CPC
Speccy forever
I knew the MSX and Spectrum versions would share the same graphics, but the MSX version is actually quite a bit slower isn't it?
Yes It is.
The usual low effort Port😬
From a quick poke around in the machine code, it looks like it's actually using an off-screen memory buffer that's laid out in the same format as the Spectrum's (slightly odd) screen, and then running an extra routine to convert that into an MSX screen format before copying it to screen every frame.
It was probably done like this so they could re-use all the same graphics data and drawing routines from the Spectrum version, but the extra copying and translation process obviously slows things down.
@@gwishart wow, thanks for the explanation. Definitely makes sense why it's slightly slower!
The famous 'weekend' port approach.
I would say cpc is pretty good: colorful, reasonable smooth too bad there's very little soundwise.
That cga only dos port is fugly
Well all of them are in 1987
You gotta appreciate the smoothness of C64 version, while all others are kind of crawling and stuttering. CGA port is not that ugly as CGA games tend to be.
0:16 you have low quality of video for AMSTRAD CPC
OleeeeEEEEEE🇪🇸🕹😆👍EE
Oh god this was the garbage we were fed by magazines back in the day in Spain...
This looks dull
C64 Wins!!
