    Thanks for this!!! Also found a way to bind them super cheap from another youtuber - JI Colourist - using a heavy duty hole punch that punches for the happy planner discs and then you can disc bind them that way you can always take out pages and organize however you want!

    • @ColorfullyOptimistic
      @ColorfullyOptimistic  Год назад

      Yes! There are a few people that disc bind them. I just leave mine loose leaf because I don't like the disc binding punches on the side of the pages.

    Thank you for showing us this method of loosening your pages, because very often the book binding throws the picture off center or makes it impossible to get to the whole picture when the binding won't open enough to enable the very edge of the picture to be reached for coloring. Also, in many books two page spreads are not aligned very well, with the lines of the artwork not meeting on both pages. I did notice that using the paper cutter in the last step seemed to throw the picture off center on the page. Is there some way to avoid this? You definitely should be given an award for patience when using this method. Thank you for giving us a realistic view if how long it really takes.

    If you don't have a heat gun using your hair dryer on low to heat the glue in the book, I have taken apart two coloring books, the only thing is every page is still tacky with glue and they stick together.

    • @ColorfullyOptimistic
      @ColorfullyOptimistic  2 года назад +1

      Yes! The hair dryer works too. Takes a little longer to get the same temperature, but does the job.

    I've done this for years, because I hate coloring inside of a book, but I didn't have a heat gun. It definitely takes a lot longer to break the spine and slowly pull out a few pages at a time, than when using a heat gun. I have taken an X-ACTO knife to slowly shave off the thicker part of the glue from the spine, making sure to have the book face down on a self-healing sewing mat.

    • @ColorfullyOptimistic
      @ColorfullyOptimistic  2 года назад +1

      I used to use that method but like you said they take forever but it definitely works

    Great video Kori. Never thought of trying this. I once tried cutting apart one of my colouring books with a box cutter and a ruler... (I don't recommend this) a good way to cut fingers. The ruler tends to slide. I didn't lose any fingers it was just a hassle. From then on I took my books to a printing shop to have multiple books done.

    • @ColorfullyOptimistic
      @ColorfullyOptimistic  2 года назад +1

      Yeah I was going to go the print shop route but the cost per book on a CreateSpace paper book wasn't worth it for me. Oh man a ruler and box cutter. I tried it with an Xacto knife and was like hmm this isn't safe but oh well haha

    Thank you so much for this video. When I took one of my coloring books to a print shop, they told I had to take it apart myself and then they would spiral bound for me. I won’t tell you how much they charged for it, but the outcome was not good. It looked good when I did a quick flip through, but when I got home and took a real good look at it, well let’s just say I was quite disappointed in the outcome. So did others myself with a slicing tool and put each coloring page in a sheet protector, and I keep them in a binder, which I like much better. I’d like to give your way a try next time I want to do this, but I’ll have to use a hair dryer.lol. Great 👍 tutorial video. 👍👍💞💞👏🏽👏🏽

    • @ColorfullyOptimistic

      Yeah I just didn't find the price to have them cut the spine worth it on these cheap Amazon printed books. You can totally use a hair dryer and it will work - just takes slightly longer to heat that glue

    works great for perfect bound books. Case bound books tend to be sewn instead of glued, then you have 'saddle sewn' which has staples.

      Yes, I did mention that at the beginning, but with these cheap CreateSpace books, ones that cost $5.99, it is cheaper for me to do it than pay a $1 per and the one by me charges more than $1 per book. So I'd rather just pull them apart myself, but it is definitely an option for those who cannot.
