Root feeders are the best way to water and feed your plants. However, they are almost 40 bucks and you cant use organic fertilizers. Hence my contraption.

What a great idea, Michael. Thank you! Isuppose the rootfeeder can also be attached to a soaker hose.

Yes, it can be attached to any garden hose fitting.

Awesome! Thanks for posting that. I was just about ready to buy a Chapin fertilizing feeder, even though a lot of people were complaining about them leaking, because I couldn't find anything else that I thought would work. I did buy a Ross root feeder But I still want to put something in line with my hose so I can deliver my own fertilizer and my own home brew compost tea.

you are so welcome! It worked great! I have a little leaking from the bottle but nothing to worry about. I want to eventually hook up a unit like that on my home water source, and then just hook the hose directly up to the root watering unit. This might improve ergonomics as well.

Fertilizing organically is awesome. Hopefully you got the Dr. Pepper bottle from the neighbor.

Might be because I am in Canada, but I cannot find this, but I can find refill packs of the fertilizer that should go in it. Do you remember exactly what it is called?

    Great-but:
Aluminum is too weak in some hard soils, and likely to break.
No crossbar to assist pushing down with hands or feet.
Better to have water distributed from sides of wand/pipe. Easily solved by drilling holes, but that's another required step.

Camera work was so disjointed I couldn't follow it. Script not concise.

Sorry, but pretty useless. If the soil is at all hard and compacted, the tip will not penetrate, and based on my experience, the shaft will probably bend or break if forced into the ground. Also, would like to have seen an actual demonstration of the root feeder in use. Without that, I see no value in the video.

sorry to be negative ! but that kind of crap will not work on normal garden where you need some force to pull down on earth the tube, also with help of water jet coming from bottom tip will not help it will get glog oe it will bent the stick. i did see people making some of plastic pvc, please do not waist time with stupid home make movies ,because many people will try emulate the stuff you make spending money and time , i got one from home dept 10 years ago and still work pretty good and yes sometime it will clog on the tip .
