  • I've always been very specific about Version 2 of Line 6's SPIDER series being my favorite amp in the price range that's reachable for mere mortals such as I. But I've found a new champion, equal in power, broader in tone-scape, and more technically versatile.

I’ve have that amp since 2008 and still use it from time to time, love the JC Clean channel, great video!

I have this amp. Love it very versatile. Very loud for its size, image how loud it would be used with an extension speaker off its built in speaker output. For the type of music I do (80s new wave) it’s ideal.

The Roland Cube amps are great, especially the portable battery powered ones. I had a micro cube and a entry level Fender strat. I forgot what you call those. I gave it to my young nephew's daughter, since she wanted to learn guitar. Had a few other cubes, but sold them. I still have my cube mobile. So versatile. I just ordered my Go:Keys yesterday, I might be abke to pick it ip on Monday from a local music store. 👍

Gearfacts, I bought one of these in 1978, it is Orange, Different than the one you have here i am sure the components inside are different, Miine sounds like the day i bought it, I plug it into my 1970 Marshall cab with 8 x 10 inch speakers , it sounds great, thanks for the video here, Cousin Figel

I just got one of these. I had a micro cube that I was mainly just using for effects and then running into a PA. But the 60 watt version packs a much greater punch and I'm somewhat of an amplifier novice. So I'm trying to figure out just how to use this lil bugger. So thanks for your video.

How do you run the micro cube into a PA? Microphone?

    • @TheRayfield77
      @TheRayfield77 2 года назад +1

violin there's a "line out" in the back. I just run an instrument cable from there into the PA. And presto, you have electric sound.
I now actually have a larger cube amp I play. I do the same thing except the amp now retains it's sound. So I sort of use the amp as my guitar monitor, while the main concert sound is pushed out of the PA. We just played a couple nights ago and it sounded great.

Ah I don't have this amp anymore sorry man. I think it had the 'power squeezer' control, this is the one that will give you the strong tone at low volume levels.

Hmm clean sounds have always kind of mystified me, I think I just don't have enough class to truly appreciate it! I'd definitely look into anything made by Nux though, I've been consistently impressed with their products and the cost is always pretty low.

@@gearfacts no worries. I play acoustic some and new to electric and always enjoy clean of sorts. I could imagine a little here or there different effects. @davidpatrick1813 The gain on the modelling side of the amp was turned up here so the models
will sound quite distorted, some players will want that. I have the same Cube 60 and on the clean JC
channel the amp is really, really clean, using the tone controls you can most definitely get some great
jazz tones. With the gain lowered on the 'Blackface' model' I can get good sparkling Fender tones and
this is where I live most of the time. This amp can do a lot and is versatile so I would definitely check
out some other RUclips reviews before writing this one off. Best wishes.

I did like it but it's probably not my favourite. It depends on the person though. For the way I play - amateur, infrequent, alone - I think my favourite would be the Fender GT40.

could you let me in on the secret of the curious box like a synth ?
Also this is in no way a portable amp ?
I think the answers no to that...there's the newish 50w cube street ex...pricey or this second hand under 200 ...hmmm
I imagine that this has a lot better sound quality?
But it's not for globe trotting or even local buskers ?
I THINK I already know the answers.
    1) it's a funny little synth
    2) it's better quality of sound?
2b) and possibly variety of effects and tones ?
    3) it's NOT mobile for outdoor playing
it can't easily be adapted for any battery driven phenomenon.
It's a very good gigging amp? and home recording ?
    any proper studio recording?
    It's not flight friendly.
    or bicycle pannier friendly?
is the 500 quid plus roland.50w cube street ex
The best all round in /out slightly compromised on sound quality amp available for guitar voice keys etc?
OR have you a well kept secret you're just about to tell us?
I hardly know you but I'm convinced you're not the lying kind ...where amps are concerned...perhaps not your love life but that's another website entirely.
What I'm trying to say is ..
I think I definitely might trust your superior knowledge and experience on guitar amps??!!
    So...come along ..do tell !!
    por favor...do me a favour.
    gawd bless yer...

I'd describe myself as the 'not very fussy' kind. My main criteria is "do I like having it in my presence?" and anything else good is just a bonus. So am I a reliable guide? Not sure. Just a chilled out one I guess. To answer y the question you asked that has an answer I like discussing: The little black synth is a Roland PMA5, the only device I bought in the 90's that I still have. Lerv it.
