Please keep coming with the Bob Dylan tunes! Amazing and powerfully written, with simple and effective guitar playing. I feel that Dylan is underrated as a guitar player.
21 years after getting my first guitar I am finally wanting to sit down and properly learn how to play guitar and I love Bob Dylan. Thanks for the vid! Down-up-down-up-down-down! G mr. A-berineman D for G Then back to D Then the A Now thát is why the man won that nobleprize!
Thank you Marty! My 10 year old daughter is really into guitar, and I have been trying to teach her, even though I have to teach myself in the process. I was a singer, and played some brass, but never got good at any strings. You teach at a good speed for us to follow. Thank you!
I’m so happy you are doing a few lessons on my kind of music - old folkie here who has picked up guitar again after 47 years. Now playing a Taylor GS Mini or my old 1966 Gibson LG0. Thanks!
When I started playing guitar - Jesus, 25 years ago now - this was just ;the kind of thing I was hoping for. Does my heart a lot of good to finally see someone making it happen. Thanks Marty :)
I have the chords to this in a book. I've been scratching my head as the extra verses didn't fit the chord progression. Thank you, adding extra Ds and Gs as required, is the bit the book doesn't mention.
After years of playing and advancing in skill level, I often have problems with super simple stuff like this. Too easy can be hard. Bob Dylan is one of my all time favorites, but his talent is in songwriting, and not so much for guitar playing. Thanks for this one though, I've been wanting to learn it for a long time.
I disagree, I used to think he was a average guitar player, as his songs were some of the first I learned, then I heard him play ‘don’t think twice it’s alright’… he can play guitar 🎸
Marty , you are the Man! I couldn't play any songs and I started w/ Brown Eyed Girl. Now my fingers are calloused and I know all your strum patterns and about 12 songs. Thank you so much !🙏
In reality, Bob Dylan plays it and recorded it using a Drop D Tuning. When he plays the "G shape," he leaves the low E is open, so the chord is a Bb/F, not a Bb. When he plays G Minor, he does it with a different shape, so the root of the G Minor is played. It creates a different ring from the ring coming when playing closed chords.
My cat snuck in my frigerator... now he's cold and hard... silent as a shard... not meowing any more... or scratching at the door... for fleeting freedom. He's lying there beside the heater... not annoying any one... his very last purr is done... and his cat food isn't gone... and his silent slumber never has been deeper. Yep, you're right!
Is it best to learn how to read music notes by playing the piano or guitar. Sorry if this is a bad question. I have no experience in these things, but have an interest to learn it.
Just watching this . really appreciate Bobs version wanted to learn .. most are the Birds which i love BUT…. Hey i just saw he down tuned to D? And was there an A7. I just saw aversion from 78 where he’s not using a capo.. so I’m confused now. Thanks!!!
I feel like it's very few people my age who listen to Bobby D nearly daily and have been since I was a preteen. I've always been a bit of an "old soul" they call it.
Thanks so much for supporting MartyMusic! Also I have FREE courses for you when you sign my newsletter at www.martymusic.com
Hi i wish you could write out the streaming pattern....like DDU etc... It would be so much easier specially for all of us newbies! Thanks! ✌

Bob Dylan will be underrated even if he is highly rated. Absolute ledge.
Love the bit of Norwegian wood at the end nice touch 👌🏻
This song has the grace of a swan, the wisdom of an owl and the eye of an eagle. Ladies and gentlemen, it's for the Byrds

...or his singing... That's just another reason it's so fun covering Dylan songs - even a mediocre singer can sing it better than him!

An A7 after the A chord sounds pretty good and adds some color to the chord progression .Just my opinion.

The besuyy of this song is its simplicity and the fact that you can sing any words on it..
My cat snuck in my frigerator...
now he's cold and hard...
silent as a shard...
not meowing any more...
or scratching at the door...
for fleeting freedom.
He's lying there beside the heater...
