I always felt the same way as her with how she was bullied and neglected from everybody, I felt that in my own life at the time too. Oh my GOD, I remember checking out the english dub dvd series of this anime from my library back when I was like 9, liking it, and then completely forgetting the name of it. AFTER 12 YEARS HERE IT IS, I FINALLY REDISCOVERED IT!

I have the japanese version of the DVD'S and I'M suprised that I know what they are saying. I didn't have the subtitles on. like in episode 23 when the dawn breaks MISAO said “ mi nou deshio mete dori cou”(or something like that) p.s if you think episode 1 is crappy take a look at episode 14 when sasami, misao, micodo, anri, tuskasa, montah, and miss washu light up fireworks...or it maybe be episode 18 I'M talking about.

Sasami from Tenchi Muyo. I think that's who this character is based from. They even have Washu and that little rabbit creature I can't remember the name of. Something that starts with an r sound I think.
Since I've finished watching this yesterday for the first time, I can say the anime could have been somehow perfect if not for its very ridiculous and corny ending. I mean most of us know that the series had ended where sasami has showered all of her feelings and love for amitav. Don't get me wrong, I like sasami a lot. In fact, I think she is a brave and matured young girl. However, I don't see any reason why she would easily become infatuated over an effeminate lad, someone who seems to be a homosexual because of his girly looks and the fact that he has some sort of feelings for her father. Plus despite the efforts that sasami has shown to prove that she really cares about him, even going as far to say something delusional like her entire existence means nothing without him, amitav never recognizes any of these at all. If anything, he seemed oblivious. So wtf does she even have to act like her life depended on him or as if she owes him something great? This is something never truly explained at all. That's why even her own friends from the magical girls club are dumbfounded by this and don't have any clue about it. Why didn't she just treat him like a brother instead? Or simply just don't mind him at all. Besides, she's still young and has a bright future ahead. So she should just focus on her studies instead of wasting time by daydreaming about that boy the whole day. I wouldn't be saying this at all if this one never happened during the show but sasami's seemingly undying obsession for amitav just makes me wanna puke, to be honest. Needless to say, it had a crappy ending that could have been averted. Otherwise, the anime is great and has good main characters, story, designs, etc. It could also have featured manlier designs for men though but then again, this is an anime generally for girls so it shouldn't matter that much.
