    Hi. I just wanted to say thank you for your posts. I only recently found your channel (Caveman Nick - I think its called) and this one and after watching your posts over the last few days I just wanted to say how much I appericate your posts.
    I've tries caving in the U.K a long, long time ago. Funny enough it was watching a movie: Journey to the Centre of the Earth that got me off my backside and trying caving, I realise I wouldn't find dinosaurs but the movie just made me to want to explore what was right under our feet. I did it for a few years but then I had a close call by getting stuck and it took quite a while to get myself unstuck by then I had lost my nerve. Watching you and your sons has sparked a reinterest in doing it again but physically I would need to lose some weight before trying again. Anyway, enough rambling about me. May I ask what got you interested in caving?
    Once again many thanks from the U.K

    Do you ever consider using bits of colored plastic when photographing cave formations? That kind of lighting can really make formations pop.

    • @EvenDarker
      @EvenDarker  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah we do sometimes and have several videos where we used colored filters.
      It's just more equipment to carry. Currently I concentrate moron locating and exploring caves. Mapping them as second. Video as third. Pictures if I feel like it. So it's not a priority. We have other people in the group that take nice pictures.

    Is there a way to replicate tight squeeze to practice/understand your size limits before doing it in caves or do you just slowly do smaller and smaller attempts

    • @EvenDarker
      @EvenDarker  5 месяцев назад

      Yeah, basically, you just work your way to smaller stuff. But most people do not work their way to do stuff quite like this. Fact, in our entire region, there's only about 3 of us that do this on a regular basis.
      Honestly, the best replication is just trying to take off wet clothes. Because what you're needing to replicate is the panic inducing. The desire to get out of a situation in a hurry.
      It's also about freezing in most of these caves so, I guess put your wet shirt in the freezer for a while. And then put it on and try to take it off. : D

      We are a speleological organization.

    You don't often get caves that spacious and walkable, do you?

    • @EvenDarker
      @EvenDarker  5 месяцев назад

      We consider ourselves big cave hunters only. But most obvious caves have previously been discovered so... We pushed through areas that others don't want to in order to discover possible large caves.
      Sometimes we go years with just crawling and nothing else. But the last couple of years we've started to really pop into some huge caves.
