Shame that so many lights in the UK are being modernised. At the rate Trinity House are going, there wont be a proper rotating optic left in use. However, I'm glad that the fixed optics seemed to be sticking around for the future.
Amazing footage and good to see one that's still spinning! Not far off what Start Point used to be, but with the extra flash to make 4. Sadly another one local to me has been modernised recently - Flatholm in the Severn estuary. Used to do 3 flashes (I think every 5 or 6 seconds), now modernised and simply blinking on and off. Footage like this is invaluable to have.
The huge lenses are impressive. Give it 15 years max though and this'll be replaced with an LED. St Catherines being converted next. Flatholm is still 3 flashes every 10 secs on my navigation chart- I'm not aware of it changing.
Ah I stand corrected, I'll be honest I wasn't counting accurately. Only noticed whilst in Weston a fortnight ago, was hoping to get some zoomed in footage, but had a nasty surprise when it switched on. Another one that I would like to visit is Nash Point.

Lovely footage. It is sad to see that the lighthouse authorities don't seem to paint boundary walls anymore.
The keepers used to do that. Were much better maintained back then with the lens being cleaned more frequently too.

Can go inside Nash during non Covid times, plus the old fog horn gets a blast occasionally.
Three flashes?
Something like that, can't remember without watching.
