Alex - I'm coming back to your fabulous videos after hiking the Larapinta in July over 20 days (picked up on the 21st). It's magic to relive the trip through the images you've captured, and I feel a pull to do the trip again. More than a hike, it felt like a journey on country. The Pound was an unexpected highlight - I thought it would be a bit touristy but it has its own special features as you note, including the size of the gorge and the amount of water there. It was mind-blowing. If I go again I think I'd add another couple of days on to explore a few places a bit more.
Excellent and well done for completing the trail. It's amazing isn't it and I well understand the pull to do it all again. It's just not possible to capture the enormity of the Pound on film as you will have experienced walking through it. Simply wonderful and the colours are something else.
@@orionblue4367 Thank you again. The weather was perfect. Not too hot and a breeze from the east keeping things cool. It was an amazing revelation when I found out about the aurora. It made me realise just how remote I was as I had no idea that was going on. I was really quite cross with the camera because I could not see the red in the sky yet it kept coming through on the photos.
@@gj5464 Thank you. I like to capture the beauty of the areas in which I travel plus what I am experiencing at the time. At a place like the Larapinta trail, you don’t have to look very hard to find beauty.
Hi Alex, I've left several comments before. Loving the series. You've done an amazing job of capturing the beauty of the Larry. Can I ask, how long did you spend exploring the Pound and how long did it take to get from there to Gorge Creek? I am doing the walk next year and in the early stages of planning.
@@gj5464 I am glad you are liking these and I hope they are helpful in your planning. I watched a lot of RUclips videos of the walk and it really gave me a sense of what I would experience - however no where near as goos as the real thing. Real life is spectacular! I left for the Pound about 9:30am and finished at about 1:15pm. I took my time and obviously filming takes up a bit of time. Nonetheless I’d take it slow because the river side and gorge parts are simply amazing. The first bit before you go through the gap is fairly mundane however. If I was to do it again, I think I would just follow the river all the way around to the gorge rather than get back onto the track itself (assuming that’s allowed). It’s only about 1 km from Ormiston Gorge camp site to George Creek, so it was less than 30 minutes. Between finishing the Pound, collecting my stuff, having a quick opportune shower, I was probably at George Creek by about 2:30pm and set up under that beautiful tree by 3:30pm.

Stunning country. Beautiful images. The weather you have had looks just perfect. The aurora and stars.... half your luck Alex.

I love your style of documenting and editing. Think you have a hidden talent here. ❤

Slowly but surely catching up. I SHOULD be editing my own video. 😂
@@BlackshacksBushcraft I look forward to seeing it
