In my experience the unicorn is wild, beautiful, and an absolutely bloothirsty menace upon Tamriel. It once chased me from Bravil to Leyawiin before ending up slaughtering the town guards and racking up a bounty for me.
...I should reinstall Oblivion and find out how many guards in how many cities I can get it to kill. For science.
Similar thing happened to me as well. Damn Unicorn came out of nowhere and went berserk on me. Unfortunately half of my gear needed repairs, so I was stuck fighting it with fists and magic. Damn thing wouldn't go down easy.
"This thing is kind weird in Tamriel" is a usual topic in Elder Scrolls series. I like it.
Kinda is putting it mildly
I like that you cover topics that no other TES content creator covers.
It's small stuff that you don't really think about until you see the title.
Feels like others just touch the same 10 topics from Skyrim and have been doing for years
@@saalok Camel works and some others are big examples of making the same 5-10 videos over and over again for over a decade.
It’s nice right?
I feel like there’s a video on this channel for any player of the game even if you don’t want to get super in the lore you could still watch a vid about some monster that interested you
I think a unicorn with wings (or a pegasus with a horn, for all the difference it makes) is called an "alicorn".
Traditionally, “Alicorn” is what a Unicorn’s horn is made out of. Winged Unicorns being called Alicorns is, to my knowledge, entirely a creation of the My Little Pony fandom.
Yeah, it’s just called a winged unicorn.
@@bi-product Really? Now I look silly :(
@@bi-productThis is correct, though MLP wasn't the first media to call them alicorns. Historically, they've been known in mythology as cerapter, flying unicorn, pegacorn, or unisus.
I like the twists TES has to common fantasy tropes and staples. Really sells the "dream" aspect of the universe when things aren't quite as they are from what you remember.
my favourite is that elves are actually ugly. like, they're different species, ofc they're not desirable.
@@platannapipidae9621They aren't ugly their alien design is meant to make them look fae like compared to humans.
@@davidfrancisco3502 now look at unmoded skyrim altmer and say this again with confidence.
@@platannapipidae9621 ummm... hate to break it to you but that's just game limitation. Thr truest lore based appearance of elves are from legends and eso CHARACTER CREATION. cosidering Bretons existed I say humans definantly find them undesirable.
@@berilsevvalbekret772 bretons exist because elves r-worded human slaves. and judging by appearances of humans, if it was TeChNiCaL lImItAtIoNs, they wouldn't look half as bad. i don't believe in ESO being fully canon, because it's a soulless mmo grindy moneygrab.
You can tame the unicorn in oblivion, you need to have higher fame and no infamy. Also when you approach the unicorn you have to not raise a weapon or your fist . Once you ride the unicorn it becomes your horse and will fast travel with you. Just keep it away from guards because sometimes they will try to kill the unicorn or the unicorn will kill them if attacked .
Do the guards get the Savior's Hide, then?
Now Hircine's Quest in Oblivion makes a lot more sense.
As a unicorn slayer, this is a great video.
Ah yes! Hircine! Daedra of beasts and a master baiter
My kind of weird Unicorns are the ones who move through worlds...
Ah yes witcher lore
Geralt and Yen approve! 😂
@@Ptaaruonn the things young folk get up to these days
It is actually well timed with the hint to the latest Video about sex in Tamriel showing up in infobox at the beginning ;)
Well, I expected a mention to I'ric Harad Egun's unicorn in the tale of "King Edward". Is a...complex secondary source but a good one.
Since King Edward is fiction I wasnt sure including it actually added something to the lore or not. But maybe a mention would have fitted, sorry
I swear TES and it's lore makes literally everything interesting and unique
Unicorns are our national animal here in Scotland.
Scots are demons confirmed
Oh boy. Here i was watching old lore vidoes while playing oblivion. And new lore video. Yay!
Same
Also Based pfp
The unicorn in Skyrim may have been one of the escaped unicorns you mentioned that was transported to the future
Why the Psijic are interested and why they sent it to the 4th era, idk
cus why not
Because the mod maker is an idiot who doesn’t understand the lore.
You had me at Unicorns
Oh wow. Now this was eye opening. I don't think I ever heard the story behind unicorns in TES. Also, never killed the unicorn in Oblivion 😅 I couldn't do it. Had a joyride then let it go on its merry way.
The unicorns also have Que'Ti Markings -- extremely powerful magical sigils of Daedric origin which appear on the unicorns' bodies and grant them various unique powers and abilities.
Good stuff!
Oof, a silver horn would deal some damage on the werewolves hunting a unicorn
i just watched the tamriel lore timeline video before this one, i had no idea hircine was a *daedric* prince… now i understand the conflict within the companions about him, but i won’t change my stance.
I certainly did learn many new things about Elder Scrolls lore today, thanks! 😏
I mean, throwing "Psijic order" at something in TES is like modern writer using "quantum"....easy,cheap and reliable.
;p
TES had a lot of stereotypical fantasy content early on that doesn't really feel like it fits the current setting, but I like that they come up with interesting explanations and twists on all of those things instead of just trying to write them out of the universe completely. Like orcs originally just being monsters, becoming playable only in Morrowind. The fact that they were viewed as monsters in Daggerfall pretty much informed what their entire culture would become.
I'm lore friendly,but that's something new❤🎉
Who would have thought that the cc content on Skyrim anniversary edition is actually cannon, lmao
There was a unicorn in oblivion
Skybabies lol
And with Creation club content you can ride one
I wonder why the unicorn in Oblivion doesn't attack as long as the player character doesn't have their weapon drawn and can even be ridden. Seems odd.
Perhaps because it only sees Daedric creatures as its natural predators. It likely doesnt see the other prey in the hunting grounds as its enemy, so it must not see mortals as enemies either unless they provoke it.
Could the unicorns have been made by kynareth but they were stolen by Hircine as a way of mocking her because daedric princes are known for trying to humiliate each other as well as the aedra also it would explain why the Minotaurs try to protect the unicorn on nirn and why it doesn't attack until you draw your weapons.
Hmm creation club content about Unicorn is kinda understandable, like I'm not much into psjic order stuff so I'm not exactly sure if they could send anything into future but stuff like that was happening in blackreach in second era (yeah referring to ESO) and if we go with that people don't know that Unicorns are deadras it would make sense...it's still stupid but that's all.
955th like!👍
Awesome video!🤘
I’m early for once! 😂
Honestly, considering how often TES likes to subvert normal mythology, it makes me glad that there isn't a more British Isles twist to its inspirational sources. Daedra or no, I'd hate for there to be a nuckelavee in game. Those things are freaky as hell.
I'm late
I about hit the thumbs up.. but its currently at 666 likes which is too perfect i can't ruin it X'D
I wasn't aware of the unicorn lore of Tamriel...so to me CC unicorn is as canon as any other CC content.
Barbie is canon to The Elder Scrolls
I think a lot of people (including myself) tend to disregard Creation Club descriptions for some things and go with their own head canon, Especially when it seems incongruous with established lore or just makes more sense to them they way they imagine it happened.
The Order deciding to throw a Daedra into the random wilderness of Skyrim is stupid. It makes them come across as idiots who don’t understand anything.
@@MultiKbarry - Yeah, that's why I don't consider Creation Club "lore" canon, and just go with what makes the most sense to me instead. Sometimes the descriptions make no sense and make me question how well they understand Elder Scrolls established lore.
I'm early 2
you know, maybe it's rose tinted nostalgia, but i feel like TES4 had more open ended adventuring and that you could more easily make your own fun, and its stuff like this, like how a unicorn presents a wildly different tone than giant stompy red demon man, but the game has both. lasdt time i tried to have a playthrough of TES4 though, i thought to myself, "why don't we go ahead and scale the map up 4x so the world feels that much bigger and things likd dreugh camps and goblins aren't right next to each other?" you may have guessed that that playthrougb never happened. you're right.
