Sanders Sides: Catching the reference - Extended 2023 version

  • The Sanders Sides series is almost 7 years old now. Like any other work of fiction, it's filled with countless references to different pop culture elements. Many of these references are easily recognizable by almost anyone. Others may have been missed by some, maybe because we don't know the original, maybe because we just didn't get the reference.
In this video, I try to do what the title says and catch all the references the series has made. I'm showing small portions from the series, followed by small portions of the works they're reference, so that we all know where the reference comes from.
Most certainly, I haven't caught all of the existing references. Some of them are not included simply because I couldn't find the footage, others, simply because I didn't know about them. And there may be some where the connection was coincidental and not intended by the authors as a reference, I included these just because it was fun to see that relation, even if hypothetically unintentional. If you know of any reference not included in the video, feel free to add it in the comments. If there are enough, perhaps, there could be a part 2, who knows. I hope anyway, you fin the video informative, or at least enjoyable.
This is an extended version of a video originally released in 2020, featuring new episodes released after the original version, which is released to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Thomas Sanders' debut on Vine in April 2013.
The Sanders Sides series belongs to Thomas Sanders and the Foster Dawg Team. Here are their links:

Y'know 10 minutes in and I realized something, all references that the sides + Thomas make correlate to their personality and what memories they hold for Thomas.
for instance, Patton makes a lot of 80's and 90's song references
    Roman (naturally) makes Disney references
Logan makes (strategy) video game and dark movie references (which is based on a strategy board game)
and Virgil makes (or rather Thomas makes) a lost reference in AA pt 2, and game show's references

Firstly, I did not know that Thomas's original Vine was a reference to Glee. Second, I'm surprised his vine wasn't included in this video, since it's technically a callback too. (Sorry Roman)

Absolute perfection. The references are so varied it can be easy to not catch them all. (Oh hey, Pokémon) The amount of references I make, even in my Sanders inspired content, deserves research like yours.

MY GOD This video must have been a pain to put together. Well done, and THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! There's a rather big age difference between Thomas and myself so I often miss the references (not to mention that english isn't even my first language so even the Disney movie quotes and what not often go unnoticed by me). It always bugs me when there's a line somewhere that is obviously a reference and I just DON'T GET IT. It's frustrating, to say the least. So, thank you!!

Only halfway through but most of these are really obvious, often being called out by the characters themselves as being a reference. There's still soooooo many that just skipped over. Patton doing the Kermit "yay!", Patton saying "Meep meep!", so many of Roman's nicknames, and way more

@@jarnold i mean he also plays d&d and the demogorgon from d&d was around much longer ago but yeah the ST one is much more famous. its just not originally from stranger things and in stranger things they name the creature after the d&d monster, so stranger things is referencing d&d in the first place, and its complicated to reference a reference.
