    I started off my frag journey on RUclips with smaller frag channels on YT who had nice, small communities on other social media sites. Now, all of those small communities are gone & many of those channels either died or sold out. Now, I only watch a select few frag YT channels, with yours being the primary one. Thank you for doing such solid & consistent work!

      Yeah. It’s too bad. Once Jeremy revealed in a video how he made money as an influencer then many reviewers wanted to steal his ideas and methods and they all got dollar signs in their eyes. Their true passion was overwhelmed by the love of money. I have nothing against sales, but it is unfortunate for people who enjoy watching genuine reviews.

      I don't need to know. Why? I don't trust any influencer and that includes even this channel 😂. I online see the vid, read the comments and check fragrantica. And if I think "this one is interesting for me" , then I go to a shop and use my own nose. Always first try-out on your own skin before buying.

    It is scammy when people misrepresent a product or the extent of their involvement. But I wonder how many people expect something differently from influencers. After all, when I see a celebrity fragrance I assume they walk into a room with a few options and pick their favorite. Somewhat similar to the premade fragrance process Ash describes. Perhaps I am very wrong. I do not own a single influencer fragrance. Not because I don't want to. It’s just because I never seem to get my nose on them to see if I’m interested. If I were to ever purchase an influencer’s fragrance it wouldn’t be because of the name on the bottle. Rather, it would be because I like the fragrance. The unfortunate part is when influencers who are creative directors and heavily involved in the creation of their fragrance get lumped in with other influencers who aren't. Surely frustrating for people like Ash but I am not sure it will ever be different.

    • @pandafragrance
      @pandafragrance 11 месяцев назад +4

      I think the difference is that I can't think of a celebrity that said they had a hand in creating the scent. It's just clear marketing. The influencers claim, often, they had a hand in creating the scent and the process is exactly what Ash is saying.

      Ehh! It’s ALL marketing. When Sauvage hired Jonny Depp, they didn’t think of his influence when creating the frag itself. Same with any other Dior, Chanel or Clinique’s scents that hired celebs… they paid BIG money to push a mass appealing scent that they KNEW lots of people will buy… I am honestly surpriser EVERY person hasn't caught onto this yet, but then again, there are people born every second, and lots grow to know little.

    I assumed this is how the entire house of Navitus operates. I also assume that the perfumers don't even always create them. • @GentsScents
      @GentsScents  11 месяцев назад +8

      From what I was involved with on the Galleria side (should be the same for Navitus) there was actual communication with the perfumers credited and work went on towards the briefs and mods. I don't care if you put alot of hours, money, or well-known names behind you. If you want to make a name for yourself, you need to get your product out there. Honestly I don’t see this as a scam, just business, the way you did it is a lot more involved and a lot more control and input, someone else doing it the other way is like getting something out with less oversight or limited options to choose from. I do think it’s scammy if someone tries to make it like they did something they didn’t but if they have a fragrance that has their name on it however they got to the point they put their name on it to represent them. Example many companies have the same water or cereal or product made in the same warehouses but for different brands, the brand sells I wouldn’t call it a “scam” per se but just knowing what you’re actually buying you’re buying the brand or name. For you though I think it would def be important to let people know when you poured your heart and passion into something and not just selling a product. Keep it up bro! I know someone who’s just starting by making his own fragrances legitimately on his own from the bottle to the manufacturing and it’s a very expensive process but to him he doesn’t want someone else to make it or be directed so it’s just see it as how much control one wants.

      I don’t think Ash is saying the process is wrong. He’s saying that how it’s marketed as a self directed creation is wrong and not accurate. He’s pointing out the lack of integrity because they withheld the truth and withholding is always misleading your audience.

    • @gilbertoflores7397
      @gilbertoflores7397 11 месяцев назад +2

      They do this all the time in all other products, it's called white labeling. Manufacturers make products that someone can slap their logo and brand on and sell it for a higher price; most influencers that have their own product line are likely using these sort of things. People with no background in such things all of a sudden have a whole products line? There are definitely red flag for people doing stuff like this.

    • @sharfalor4244
      @sharfalor4244 11 месяцев назад +1

      No, it's not plagiarism. The formula has already been paid for in the form of a shelved submission and owned by the company asking them to sell it for them. They are disingenuous by marketing an unwanted/unused product but it's not the same thing as plagiarism.

    yeah 3 days yeah for sure nothing that was not already on the shelf!!! takes min 6weeks for the Oils to Macerate 30 days for example okay maybe!??? but anything under that NO!!! just no! when I make a fragrance for example my tinctures sit in the bottle min 6 months! others YEARS!!! thats just to prep some compounds I use.! you have to Macerate for that time because the oils need time to meld and complement each other as well the fragrance needs to go through this process for Strength and performance! also why you can get a blast of Alcohol off a new bottle and batch, with performance that is garbage ! it needs time!!

    Just playing devil’s advocate here. What you’re describing isn’t entirely different from what Frederic Malle did with his brand. If the influencer was honest, I would have no issue with pre-developed formulas if the believe they are worthy creations. Just my two cents.

    @damelos4039 11 месяцев назад +1

    I'm ambivalent about this. To lead someone to believe they were more involved than they were is a problem but, in the end, it's about marketing too. There are so many parallels. Music is another. You can buy samples they you didn't make but how you combine them and modify them and arrange them, gives you a song. Not a single sound did YOU actually create but the end result is unique and a creative work. Is it "fake" music? No, it isn't. At that point, it's about marketing. No one asks, "What sampler did you use?" "Where did you buy your samples?" They just say they like the song or they don't. Not exactly the same case here, but not all that different either.
