It is scammy when people misrepresent a product or the extent of their involvement. But I wonder how many people expect something differently from influencers. After all, when I see a celebrity fragrance I assume they walk into a room with a few options and pick their favorite. Somewhat similar to the premade fragrance process Ash describes. Perhaps I am very wrong. I do not own a single influencer fragrance. Not because I don't want to. It’s just because I never seem to get my nose on them to see if I’m interested. If I were to ever purchase an influencer’s fragrance it wouldn’t be because of the name on the bottle. Rather, it would be because I like the fragrance. The unfortunate part is when influencers who are creative directors and heavily involved in the creation of their fragrance get lumped in with other influencers who aren't. Surely frustrating for people like Ash but I am not sure it will ever be different.

I assumed this is how the entire house of Navitus operates. I also assume that the perfumers don't even always create them. Years ago after the release Office for Men, Jeremy made a video just like this. He was saying the same thing...other influencers are just putting their name on stuff that they didn't really have any part of the creation process. Pretty sure it was directed at this channel, as well as others 😕
As long as the influencer is open about the creation process, I'd much prefer something less expensive than the nonsensical prices of jeremy's and Ash's fragrances.
I was literally going to comment something similar. The RUclipsr Real Men Real Style has “Mission Fragrances”. It seems really scammt and i dont see a single review on it apart from the shady website. Idk if youve seen or heard about it.
Any od those channels about mens fashion is a straight up cash grab, making videos around a sponsor instead of the other way around, using white label products and slapping their logos on it and saying they've formulated the best possible item. Or over charging for their clothing lines.

I, for example, genuinely love many of them, but I may have never known about them if you hadn't mentioned them on your channel.
Honestly I don’t see this as a scam, just business, the way you did it is a lot more involved and a lot more control and input, someone else doing it the other way is like getting something out with less oversight or limited options to choose from. I do think it’s scammy if someone tries to make it like they did something they didn’t but if they have a fragrance that has their name on it however they got to the point they put their name on it to represent them. Example many companies have the same water or cereal or product made in the same warehouses but for different brands, the brand sells I wouldn’t call it a “scam” per se but just knowing what you’re actually buying you’re buying the brand or name. For you though I think it would def be important to let people know when you poured your heart and passion into something and not just selling a product. Keep it up bro! I know someone who’s just starting by making his own fragrances legitimately on his own from the bottle to the manufacturing and it’s a very expensive process but to him he doesn’t want someone else to make it or be directed so it’s just see it as how much control one wants.
I don’t think Ash is saying the process is wrong. He’s saying that how it’s marketed as a self directed creation is wrong and not accurate. He’s pointing out the lack of integrity because they withheld the truth and withholding is always misleading your audience.
my only thing is this message will not really reach to the audience that it really should be told to. That is sad, because i have watched almost all OG fragrance channels and one blew up in a matter of 2 yrs and even has a fragrance now.
So what I got out of that is there a bunch of fake influencers duping people into buying stuff. Nothing new here. Haha. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was someone in Europe that is doing that. Because of the references he made. I can definitely appreciate that info Ash.
Nice, cookie cutter copy and paste creations, sold to you for $$$. Cant wait till AI starts creating perfumes, our food, our art, our music, our everything while people make bags with nothing real to spend it on. With all due respect, personally I wouldn’t buy any influencer “creation”. Also I’m coming to the conclusion that I take influencer recommendations with a grain of salt. I look at notes, and trusted houses and order decants. Because really when it comes down to it, the profit motif is too strong, and integrity is a dying virtue. Respect to you ash for speaking your mind, it’s why I’m subscribed and hold your opinions (along with joy Amin, and Justin Copeland) at a higher standard.
LOL someone made fun of you for not wasting a small fortune on an over hyped pita? I also have an iPhone and love it. However, Mac's are over priced, not so well built anymore, and locked down into the Apple ecosystem in maddening ways. IBM clones forever!
I’ve only come across maybe a few influencers/critics/promotors in the game (that I care to watch) Ash, FragMental, CubaKnow and CurlyFragrance…. Sorry not sorry. she’s hot and likes heavy Oud frags... Aside from that, most seem to read off of Fragrantica’s notes page and copy/paste their experience, and post vid based on that.
@@jimbeam4140 Clearly they read what notes are presented on packaging that notes them, but they also give their own opinions on what they, themselves smell.
this just sounds like influencers are plagiarizing fragrance formulas and passsing it off as their own ideas to get cred in the community. i know in any other professional career ppl dont take to kindly to plagiarism, it should not fly here in the fragrance side of the world.
They do this all the time in all other products, it's called white labeling. Manufacturers make products that someone can slap their logo and brand on and sell it for a higher price; most influencers that have their own product line are likely using these sort of things. People with no background in such things all of a sudden have a whole products line? There are definitely red flag for people doing stuff like this.
No, it's not plagiarism. The formula has already been paid for in the form of a shelved submission and owned by the company asking them to sell it for them. They are disingenuous by marketing an unwanted/unused product but it's not the same thing as plagiarism.
Curly somehow started to advertise Superz Budapest. Superz is a terrible "Hungarian" Turkish brand, without any original ideas, most of the scents are just dupes. 🤦
yeah 3 days yeah for sure nothing that was not already on the shelf!!! takes min 6weeks for the Oils to Macerate 30 days for example okay maybe!??? but anything under that NO!!! just no! when I make a fragrance for example my tinctures sit in the bottle min 6 months! others YEARS!!! thats just to prep some compounds I use.! you have to Macerate for that time because the oils need time to meld and complement each other as well the fragrance needs to go through this process for Strength and performance! also why you can get a blast of Alcohol off a new bottle and batch, with performance that is garbage ! it needs time!!
You aren’t wrong. The only real issue I have is selling it as something it isn’t in order to bump up the perceived value to your subscribers/followers/people in general. That said you could make the argument that’s done with everything so you have a point.
Yeah, that was a fun time! Though I will say that it’s entirely possible that was just my experience and that the people working on the Navitus side had a much more positive experience overall. My point of view isn’t the only one with all that.
I wish you had a better experience. I'm sure others have had a much more positive working relationship, but unfortunately, that won't change how it went down for you. If there is a bright side, when the fragrances went on sale those of us who liked them got a chance to stock up. I got backup bottles of VT, DTD, SOS, and Yuzu. I hope your Malul partnership continues to go well and future ventures go well. We have similar taste in fragrance so I'm usually interested in checking out what you've had a hand in creating.
@@guitarkyle It's still not the same thing. Galleria was a meme, but they still had back and forth with the perfumer. You're comparing apples and oranges here.
Just playing devil’s advocate here. What you’re describing isn’t entirely different from what Frederic Malle did with his brand. The main difference being that he highlighted the artists rather than claiming his own brilliance in designing the fragrances. If the influencer was honest, I would have no issue with pre-developed formulas if the believe they are worthy creations. Just my two cents.
Is it really devils advocate if it's a completely different scenario where the influencer (malle) actually points out that it's not his, and highlights the artist? Clearly not.
Nah, Jeremy worked through Firmenich with Morillas and a couple other perfumers. Not sure what he’s into currently but he could probably pop out a new fragrance at any time if he wanted to.

Why do I have a feeling this all about Bliss Da ZEO? 😂
Not scammy just disingenuous and manipulative. If profit is to be made it will be done, and you are the mark.
RUclipsr fragrances are very expensive. Not worth it. They should sell 100ml around 49 dollars and international shipping options.
Exactly.
@Gentscents how do I keep this video pinned
Ash been talking to Katt Williams on how to expose
my only thing is this message will not really reach to the audience that it really should be told to.
I creatively directed myself to only buy designer brand colognes
That’s big 🧠
I hope you launder those briefs before you send them 😂
Aromatix? The sphinx fragrance that he says he creatively directed? Coconut daiquiri?
No I’ve not smelled that one
Aromatix only released one fragrance and has not made a business model out of it.
What are you on about, Shuayb?
Honestly feels like that’s not far off sometimes
Don’t be mean to his asus guys 😂😂
Yeah come on, it has keys that light up
LOL someone made fun of you for not wasting a small fortune on an over hyped pita? I also have an iPhone and love it. However, Mac's are over priced, not so well built anymore, and locked down into the Apple ecosystem in maddening ways. IBM clones forever!
It’s the internet, you get roasted for literally everything 😄
I’ve only come across maybe a few influencers/critics/promotors in the game (that I care to watch) Ash, FragMental, CubaKnow and CurlyFragrance…. Sorry not sorry. she’s hot and likes heavy Oud frags... Aside from that, most seem to read off of Fragrantica’s notes page and copy/paste their experience, and post vid based on that.
Smelly cat is also rock solid
Curly has replaced Demi as the new "female Jeremy"
@@Gungrave123 Have you seen ‘the decant’ video about her being Jeremy’s lost sister at birth? Hilarious.
You don't think Cuba, Curly and Ash do that too? Please....
@@jimbeam4140 Clearly they read what notes are presented on packaging that notes them, but they also give their own opinions on what they, themselves smell.
Those websites are trash 🗑️
Ferminish is in Plainsboro nj I work around there
this just sounds like influencers are plagiarizing fragrance formulas and passsing it off as their own ideas to get cred in the community. i know in any other professional career ppl dont take to kindly to plagiarism, it should not fly here in the fragrance side of the world.
Important info. ⚠
Curly somehow started to advertise Superz Budapest. Superz is a terrible "Hungarian" Turkish brand, without any original ideas, most of the scents are just dupes. 🤦
❤
Hey Ash you missed a few more lol
youre too cool for apple
The Katt Williams of fragcomm 😅
Katt Williams is funny. Ash is the opposite. He's sarcastic, but far from funny.
lol
yeah 3 days yeah for sure nothing that was not already on the shelf!!! takes min 6weeks for the Oils to Macerate 30 days for example okay maybe!??? but anything under that NO!!! just no! when I make a fragrance for example my tinctures sit in the bottle min 6 months! others YEARS!!! thats just to prep some compounds I use.! you have to Macerate for that time because the oils need time to meld and complement each other as well the fragrance needs to go through this process for Strength and performance! also why you can get a blast of Alcohol off a new bottle and batch, with performance that is garbage ! it needs time!!
TBH most every Arabic one has been nasty! Thameen London was awesome!
Get them back for f^@king with you Great Job. 👍 😂😂😂😂 someone has to get smoked 🚬 😂😂 i love this 😀 speak the truth 👏 😂 Gang Gang
It's time for this guys vid on how edgy he is. I'll keep further thoughts for my stream.
Caveat emptor.
It's not scamming, but a business model.
It don't see what this commotion is all about.
You aren’t wrong. The only real issue I have is selling it as something it isn’t in order to bump up the perceived value to your subscribers/followers/people in general. That said you could make the argument that’s done with everything so you have a point.
This definitely did not happen with Galleria Parfums. 😉
I did a whole video about that experience, you can search it up and get the details
@@GentsScents I know, I saw that video. 🙂
Soooooo you must've watched the Katt Williams and Shannon Sharpe interview and decided to follow suit in the fragrance community 😂
Nah, he recorded this last year.
Yeah this has been recorded for a while now, just was a member video until now
Gotcha! Big ups to you for existing the truth. Mad respect 🙏🏽
Yes, the way Malle did it was genius in its own way
Is it really devils advocate if it's a completely different scenario where the influencer (malle) actually points out that it's not his, and highlights the artist? Clearly not.
Ah.....I thought you talk about Jeremy 😂
Nah, Jeremy worked through Firmenich with Morillas and a couple other perfumers. Not sure what he’s into currently but he could probably pop out a new fragrance at any time if he wanted to.
@@GentsScentsyeah, you are right. He is more a scalper than a scammer 😅
Hey Ash! Thank you so much for the break down man. I have a better understanding of the inner workings. Seriously appreciate you giving us the best of the best. Didn’t know the influencer fragrance world is so scummy.
i need names thrown under the bus
I'm just curious about which RUclipsrs are doing this. Maybe I shouldn't buy any fragrances from any RUclipsrs. Sorry, Ash. 😂
You busted me!
@GentsScents Nah, I think I can trust you. Atleast you have Richard Herpin to back you up 😄👍
Ash didn't say they were bad fragrances. I bet most of them are great. He's just saying they didn't have a say in making them...just choosing some pre-made stuff and then say they "created" it working together with a master perfumer.
@@eaudetreasure I didn't say they were bad either.
