- WE found some crazy larvae in north Florida on willow trees and were shocked to find out that they were not Lepidoptera. They were actually saw flies! While totally harmless to humans, these larvae look as much like a zombie than any other creature I have ever seen. Join us on our zombie saw fly larva apocalypse!

a few days after watching this I actually found my own sawflies for the first time! I was looking for skipper & hairstreak eggs on my sida and found 2 bright purple larvae with orange spots, about an inch long each feeding on the same leaf. I kept them and believe they may be close to being pre-pupal now as they are turning bright pink

I've been raising a few caterpillars myself and it's stunning how much waste they generate. Do you think you can run a miniature compost with these?
