    I had a similar experience when my furnace went out. Well, the tech from the "well-known" company told me it needed to be replaced to the tune of $8k. I called a highly recommended small independent who simply changed the thermostat for under $200. This happened 3 years ago and I haven't had a problem since. We, especially women, should get multiple estimates.

    • @FreeRangeDiva
      @FreeRangeDiva  6 месяцев назад

      Yes!! This is exactly what I mean. I guess times are hard for the bigger companies, but it's not realistic to tell a homeowner they need to completely rewire their house to fix a minor issue. Multiple estimates, definitely.

    I’m so sorry Cheryl. I thought going from being a homeowner and selling my house in Florida moving to an apartment in North Carolina. That would save me trouble and aggravation. No, I’ve had nothing but problems with this apartment. And being that I’m not allowed to call in my own repair, man and stuff. I have to wait for them to get to things.there’s something faulty with my wiring and my electric bill keeps running way too high. I hope things get better for you and me both.

    • @FreeRangeDiva
      @FreeRangeDiva  6 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, one of the benefits of renting is that you don't have to deal w/ constant repairs... at least that's the way it should be!

    Well you had one helluva week! Glad you got it fixed! Speaking as someone who owns a 1934 farmhouse, I feel your pain. Don’t you find it amusing when some contractors assume a woman doesn’t have a brain in her head?🙄 Thank goodness you knew better and thank goodness for a small business owner with integrity! Your next video sounds very interesting! Since I’ve retired I’ve done pretty good with self care, but something that’s very perplexing for me is how I don’t seem to handle stressful situations as well as I did just a few years ago. I used to be unflappable in any situation! Lately I just want to punt the ball to someone else😂 My family is like, Who IS this person?!? I’m wondering if this is common for women my age(67)?
    We’re having a burst of spring weather this next two weeks, that will surely do wonders for my morale! I hope you guys are staying warm and enjoying some nice weather and having a better week! Hugs, j

    • @FreeRangeDiva
      @FreeRangeDiva  6 месяцев назад

      That's so interesting about stress levels. I also notice that I don't have much patience any more. I used to be a "whatever, dude" kinda girl, but lately I have more of a "take it on down the road" attitude. I don't want to hear it, or deal with it, lol! This week we have another atmospheric river, so although I think our house will be fine, it's unnerving to see homes sliding away in the wake of all this water. Have you heard of Wayfarer's Chapel? The unstable ground has caused it be closed indefintely, which is heart breaking. Rainy season ends in another month, so keeping fingers crossed. Have a great week, my friend... Hugs, Cheryl

      @@FreeRangeDiva Take it on down the road😂 Exactly!
      Wayfarer’s Chapel vaguely sounded familiar so I looked it up, it’s so beautiful! I’ve never been there but I think I must of heard of it. I do remember how nerve wracking rainy season was in Santa Barbara though, especially if fire season had been bad. I heard this morning that you had another system heading that way. Definitely fingers crossed!

    Greetings Cheryl! Oh my goodness, what an ordeal you went through! But you did it, and successfully I might add. Your book sounds awesome! I'm going to check into it. Do you know anything about gua sha for the body? Can you refer me to some information on it,? Thank you so much. Love and blessings ♥️🙏

    • @FreeRangeDiva
      @FreeRangeDiva  6 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Jean, I haven't had full body gua sha but I do have experience w/ Rolfing, a similar deep tissue massage technique. The aim of Gua Sha on the body is to promote healing and a release of tension. For this, I would recommend seeing a professional. If you want to try a lighter version for lymphatic drainage, fat and cellulite removal, I can recommend Tina Engeo and Cancer Rehab PT, both here on YT. HTH! xo Cheryl

    $44,000 was the LOWEST estimate. Oh my GOSH ! You & your mom wouldn't even have been able to live there while walls & ceilings were ripped out. Good thing you have a good head on your shoulders & saw the nonsense in his approach. The small family company was so much more reasonable & sensible.
    We live in an 1890's house. We have blown a circuit breaker every once in awhile. If the small elec stove is running in liv rm, do not vacuum downstairs then. Turn off the stove first. 😉
    Oh the challenges of old homes. 😏
    Yeah, that was a tiresome week for you!
    Gua sha...yes! I do it & enjoy it. Will look forward to your video about it.

      Haha! You know exactly what it's like. We can't run the washer & dryer at the same time or the breaker will go off! You have to have a sense of humor and realize it's all part of the home's charm, lol!
