- Episode 9 of building my dream workshop in my back garden. In this one we finish cladding and insulating the toilet/kitchen area and get our things moved over from the old unit! None of it feels real and I don't think it will for a while.

Awesome Dan! Probably a bit late for it but have you considered splitting the two racks to have access in the middle?
That way you could put a bench/ access to mezzanine on the left hand side by the roller shutters… just my 2p worth! Keep up the good work 👍🏻

@Dan Chambers cool just make shure your mmmm ready for all the paperwork for waste oil burning... mind you old chipper oil is legal to burn without the yearly fees 😉😉😉😇

I’d have Painted the racking, lift and all presses, engine hoists toolboxes etc anthracite to match the doors before putting them in 😂
I did consider that but it would take too long 😂

you should see if there are any HD security camera systems that could be installed for filming in the shop. you could just have the system on a 24 hour loop and use that for time laps. Maybe a company would sponsor the videos to help with the installation
Yes a 4k CCTV system is on my wish list, once money allows we will be installing one

I bet, and those ridges don’t help either. PPC group in Lincolnshire will be able to help grinding equipment if you wanna do it yourself.

Why don't you put the racks in an L shape on one of the corners? Might have a little more space to move things around!
I wanted to keep them as far back as I can so I don't lose too much space in the unit and I want it all hidden behind the panels.

I know the exact feeling you are experiencing now. I built a 30'x40'x12' building in my yard about 5 years ago. Had a blast building it, and have a great feeling of satisfaction just about every time I walk out there.
Congratulations. Take your time moving in. I did a lot of 'temporary solutions' when I moved in, they are still there.
That's awesome dude! Great space to have but even better when you built it yourself. Yeah I still have a few bits to sort but hopefully as money comes in we will get them finished.

This unit is freaking awesome! I reckon you should do the skirting board next before you put everything into place, and do all the skirting board, door frames and the roof steels in the same satin black as the doors 🔥 looking cleaaaan! Well done Dan from a fellow Dan!

Yeah I can tell by that constant huge grin every time you open the doors🤣 I was in the same situation about 3 years ago when at 60 I got my first ever workshop in my back garden, it's tiny compared to yours but I love it. I use it for paint spraying with a homemade booth in the corner👍👍
