How to fillet a Albacore Tuna for making tuna steaks or sushi.
1st Remove the head and Guts
then make a cut next to the dorsal fin all the way to the tail
cut through all the vertical bones that runs throughout the length of the Tuna
next cut all the way to the belly ensuring your knife runs as flat as possible to the bones,
remove belly flaps. ( these are very Delicious to cook up in the smoker.
Next step will be to cut lengthwise nevt to the vertical bones removing them and the blood line at the same time. Do thid on both sides of the vertical bones.
Now you are left with 2 pieces of tuna fillet.
Remove the skin by making an incision about 2 inches from the tail under the skin, this is just so that you can get a proper grip on the skin.
Run your knife along the skin facing it down slightly and with a push and pull movement, pushing the knife and pulling the skin.
With so many people passing through. It Would be pretty cool to know where y’all from let me know down here.

Tuna is one of the hardest to fillet.. This is very useful. I am from India
I have never watched someone fillet a fish in such a meticulous way... really interesting to watch
Lol. Now that you’ve mentioned it I also realise it.

I love videos like this..I've never filleted a tuna but I have filleted many hundreds of fresh water fish..Crappie, bluegill, bass, perch and of course catfish...Very nicely done...Thanks for the sub. I got you back for sure...Oh by the way..You are the only one besides me that I've seen with a camera remote on his wrist...
Hi Mike thanks for your kind words I really greatly appreciate it. I grew up on the ocean but after school i moved to an area where i was not close to the ocean for about 10 years and the only fishing i could then do was freshwater. I caught heaps of Bass, Carb, Catfish and Eels during that time and that is were my love for fishing really started. I'm now back on the ocean and so addicted to fishing, do not think any rehab in the world could cure me. Very nice meeting you and looking forward to many more good years of seeing you on the screens.
From Hong Kong , was wondering, how can I know if is safe to eat the tuna raw? I have filleted a similar size one as the one in your video, and have put the meat in a freezer...I googled and it says after 7 days is relatively safe to eat it raw...cheers
Can you just cut it in slices and fry it with the skin? Please someone answer because I just could to small tunas, maybe they are albacore I can't tell and I want to prepare them
Thank you so much for the sub! Tight lines!
No worries. 🎣 tight lines.
I've caught a lot of blackfin tuna. For their size they can put up quite a fight.
Even with a tutorial I’d screw up this fillet ha ha!!! Nicely done
Lol. Thanks for watching man.

grouperhunter thanks brother much appreciated. I’ll be on the lookout for more of your vids too.
Very nice video. I have a deal when I go fishing, though. If I catch the most, I don't have to clean them.
LOL. That sounds like an awesome deal to me. I'm going to try that one next time. Cleaning up fish and washing the boat.
Very cool!👍 definitely would like to try the smoked belly the steak and the sushi too of course!👍😉🍺
Thanks mate. Your making me hungry now lol.
Where’s the music from ?
It reminds me of wicked game

One of my dreams is to fish for big tuna, great tutorial, subbing u back brother
Addicted Angler thank you very much brother I really appreciate your support. I’ve only caught these Albacore tunas. Hoping to catch a yellowfin or marlin soon.
Very interesting on how you cut up a Tuna fish. That skin looks really hard to cut through at first. I've only fillet your standard freshwater fish.
Thank you sir. Yes they do have very tough skin and you need a real sharp knife to cut it. Mine in this video was a little blunt lol. :-)
Pro tip: when you play a fish fillet video and the person is using their wife's kitchen knife - move on.:)

Thanks brother. Much appreciated.
Did it ever occur to you that you need a proper knife because you’re terrorizing that fish
Skin it first. Much easier
That tuna is small as hell! Good job baby killer.
Tony Phan lmfao. It’s an Albacore Tuna. They do not grow that big.
They don't grow as big as I guess as bluefin or yellowfin can grow, but they grow alot bigger then the one you got there lmao. I've used live bait way bigger lol
@@tonyphan1221 you use live bait? Who is the asshole now, asshole?
I just wish you didnt add that annoying music. I want to hear the sound of the knife cutting the fish.
lol yeah me too. I barely use any music in my videos of late.
Bro, you need to sharpen your knife big time. I've never had to saw on any tuna skin as hard nor as much as you did.
Sharp knives make for clean good fillets. Other than that, decent video.
Great video brother! Thanks for stopping by my channel and subbing. Returning the favor and I already see several videos that I can't wait to watch!
Learning To Survive thanks brother. I appreciate you stopping by and showing your support
Too Slow
The music sucked!! And you don't know the correct way to fillet a tuna. Your not even using a fillet knife .
Couldn't you find a bigger fish? Terrible job.
Why would someone keep a fish so small. They should have thrown this fish back in the ocean.
