    How to fillet a Albacore Tuna for making tuna steaks or sushi.
    1st Remove the head and Guts
    then make a cut next to the dorsal fin all the way to the tail
    cut through all the vertical bones that runs throughout the length of the Tuna
    next cut all the way to the belly ensuring your knife runs as flat as possible to the bones,
    remove belly flaps. ( these are very Delicious to cook up in the smoker.
    Next step will be to cut lengthwise nevt to the vertical bones removing them and the blood line at the same time. Do thid on both sides of the vertical bones.
    Now you are left with 2 pieces of tuna fillet.
    Remove the skin by making an incision about 2 inches from the tail under the skin, this is just so that you can get a proper grip on the skin.
    Run your knife along the skin facing it down slightly and with a push and pull movement, pushing the knife and pulling the skin.

      Hi Mike thanks for your kind words I really greatly appreciate it. I grew up on the ocean but after school i moved to an area where i was not close to the ocean for about 10 years and the only fishing i could then do was freshwater. I caught heaps of Bass, Carb, Catfish and Eels during that time and that is were my love for fishing really started. I'm now back on the ocean and so addicted to fishing, do not think any rehab in the world could cure me. Very nice meeting you and looking forward to many more good years of seeing you on the screens.

    From Hong Kong , was wondering, how can I know if is safe to eat the tuna raw? I have filleted a similar size one as the one in your video, and have put the meat in a freezer...I googled and it says after 7 days is relatively safe to eat it raw...cheers

    Very interesting on how you cut up a Tuna fish. That skin looks really hard to cut through at first. I've only fillet your standard freshwater fish.

    • @FishingAdventuresHB
      @FishingAdventuresHB  6 лет назад

      Thank you sir. Yes they do have very tough skin and you need a real sharp knife to cut it. Mine in this video was a little blunt lol. :-)

    Bro, you need to sharpen your knife big time. I've never had to saw on any tuna skin as hard nor as much as you did.
    Sharp knives make for clean good fillets. Other than that, decent video.

    Why would someone keep a fish so small. They should have thrown this fish back in the ocean.
