those who don't understand why china's manufacturing industry is so aggresive should know ,that the most fundamental reason is that Western society has monopolized the right of chinese to speak, and the chinese can only survive by doing things instead of talking. there will always be a day when more people in china are engaged in art, literature, lawyers, and administration, and China's GDP composition will have more service industries, just like the United States now. then china will have high-end companies like Bloomberg, which can earn more income by selling their own opinions. there are many people in china who have very good views on the world and are much smarter than those who accept Bloomberg's services.
what people do not understand is that China industry is so aggressive is not because of government, it is that the government do not Favour one company over another, and they purposely pit all of them against each other. so, they do not stop any one from forming companies big or small but will try to help them all, still, they will allow the weakest to die, that is why they have 100s of EV and chip companies and a lot of them, include some whales died every year until a few really aggressive survivors emerged. even Huawei was treated the same until the US did Huawei a Favour by victimizing them and now, the China government and public has rallied behind Huawei and make them the champion to lead all the other companies against the west. once you understand this, then, look at the situation as it is evolving, you can see what is going to happen next a mile off. only fools will big ego and biased mind will be blind until the truth suddenly bit their behind.
No, because of some dark secret, the United States has a much smaller scale of high-quality education resources, and because it has modernized first, it has established an innate advantage barrier and monopolized the world. Otherwise, China today would not be able to compete with the West. And China will establish its own more superior ecological governance system for development

not good enough, they have to literally sit right on top of the situation there, feel the ground, attract the top talent and use them to ride the wave. do so while the going is good, then, they will always be at the top but if they follow their government and become an enemy, then, eventually, they will start to feel the pain when China gradually drops them as the local tech catch up. they do not have a lot of time, 3-5 years at most, it will a few years to gear up, so no time left.

China has no EUV. They are able like any other chipmaker, to produce small processes like 5-3nm on old DUV machines from ASML. Where people get it wrong and think its a succes is that the yields using such methods are extremly poor and no one can scale small process nodes with DUV equitment, its simply makes no sense cause yeilds will be low that way. In short china has showed nothing at all after attempting to copy ASML in 20 years.

The question is how long you can prevent China to come out with their own technology to counter your product. The answer is given. You only have about 5 years or short before that happen and when that happen your company will be in such a bad position to compete.
you will understand somethings that you cannot understand until you ar among chinese. If there is a lucrative product that Chinese do not have, then Chinese will be so excited to their shake like a drugger, because those local rich people who have a few dollars in their pockets but are unwilling to take too many risks know that making this product will definitely make money, and at the same time hundreds of thousands of excellent engineers who have graduated and have no jobs will have a direction to work towards, until this product has been made as simple as growing cabbage by too many Chinese, and they will move on to the next one. You cannot understand how happy those Chinese were when the Americans announced that they would ban ASML from selling DUV and EUV. In addition, the Chinese will not invest too much energy in optics, as that is the investment threshold set by capitalists for this product. They will achieve the goal of improving performance and reducing energy consumption in packaging, which will make ASML's EUV look ridiculous. The Chinese officials meddled too much. In the 50's China had some of the smallest semiconductors. those who don't understand why china's manufacturing industry is so aggresive should know ,that the most fundamental reason is that Western society has monopolized the right of chinese to speak, and the chinese can only survive by doing things instead of talking. there will always be a day when more people in china are engaged in art, literature, lawyers, and administration, and China's GDP composition will have more service industries, just like the United States now. then china will have high-end companies like Bloomberg, which can earn more income by selling their own opinions. there are many people in china who have very good views on the world and are much smarter than those who accept Bloomberg's services.
what people do not understand is that China industry is so aggressive is not because of government, it is that the government do not Favour one company over another, and they purposely pit all of them against each other. so, they do not stop any one from forming companies big or small but will try to help them all, still, they will allow the weakest to die, that is why they have 100s of EV and chip companies and a lot of them, include some whales died every year until a few really aggressive survivors emerged. even Huawei was treated the same until the US did Huawei a Favour by victimizing them and now, the China government and public has rallied behind Huawei and make them the champion to lead all the other companies against the west. once you understand this, then, look at the situation as it is evolving, you can see what is going to happen next a mile off. only fools will big ego and biased mind will be blind until the truth suddenly bit their behind.
China culture despises rhetoric and appreciates those who do it, so China won't have a company like Bloomberg.😂

I have no clue about the progress of Chinese EUV, do they have any progress under 14nm? As this is the key node, can they massively produce?
China has no EUV. They are able like any other chipmaker, to produce small processes like 5-3nm on old DUV machines from ASML. Where people get it wrong and think its a succes is that the yields using such methods are extremly poor and no one can scale small process nodes with DUV equitment, its simply makes no sense cause yeilds will be low that way.

Of course, China-made EUV will also be produced, but it just wont be sold well. I don't know if you can understand this.

The Chinese government's continued micro managing of the semiconductor industry along with China's political revolution over 30 years has held back the development Chinese semiconductor industry, which started in the mid 50's, despite the billions invested. The Chinese officials meddled too much. In the 50's China had some of the smallest semiconductors. So it can only be blamed on government planning and mismanagement which put the country 16 years behind the West in the 80's and 90's, but since then the leaps and bounds China has made are extremely impressive and most people in the field of semiconductor technology believe in the next 4-6 years or before the Chinese will have 2nm semiconductor and between 4-8 years have just as good lithography machines as the ASML Deutch machines. Especially data and Analysis, especially Analysis, especially..
One denies access to tech, the others will deny access to food, basic products, pharma products, etc, eventually, one way or the other, and then there will be no denials at all, as the world will stop to exist as it does now.
hes too humble
Yes maybe China is still importig 90% of all the equipment it needs to fabricate chips from US and Japan and to a lesser degree from EU, but it doesn't mean that we won't be able to make them on our own, indeed they are too complex for us now but we are going to make them eventually even if it takes us 50 or 100 years from now.
@@JigilJigil what are you talking about you are now just spouting outdated information
China has managed to make a homegrown(everything made in China right down to what goes into the screws, nuts, bolts) Lithography machine albeit one that creates legacy type/level 28nm chips
Where they are using their proprietary layering/patterning technique to get down to that 7nm/5nm
So yes one could argue they are behind from a sanctioning standpoint But from an all out war standpoint where a Country has been cut off from inputs from other countries?
I look at it as a China is ahead Because really that is the worst case scenario the USA/West is envisioning.
As that being the reason they have sanctioned/cut off China right now
That’s the biased criteria we put on China they need to be making that 100% homemade semiconductor chip From that 100% homemade lithography machine right down to the screws and Rare Earths required to make the lithography machines in the first place
Where the Dutch company ASML sources 85% of what goes into making their lithography machines from around the world. As ASML cuts off China from its technology/patents
But then no one thought to go back even further.
Forgetting about the fact 85% of the components are sourced from other places/countries
They should have been asking about the mines supply chains
what goes into making those components or
Or most importantly the patents on what goes into that component in the first place?
Because the Chinese dominate the mining and refining of the most basic minerals that go into making those components/equipment
Like Lithium, Cobalt, Rare Earths etc
And most importantly they control the patents on the refining of those metals and minerals
Americans are just lucky they don’t think zero-sum game type of ways like America does
They could have easily crashed the American economy… it would have hurt the Chinese but it would have hurt America more
But they don’t think that zero-sum game ways until they are forced to…

Applications in Semiconductor Manufacturing
Lasers and Lithography
Lasers are indispensable in semiconductor manufacturing, especially in advanced lithography. REEs like neodymium are used in Nd:YAG lasers, which are critical for UV light generation in lithography processes.
Laser Cleaning
As semiconductor components shrink, traditional cleaning methods become less effective. Lasers, particularly those using REEs, offer a solution by dislodging particles adhered to wafers through Van Der Waal forces.
Magnets and Plasma Material Processing
Permanent magnets, often made from REEs like neodymium, are used in plasma material processing systems. These systems are essential for thin film growth and patterning.
Coatings and Abrasives
REEs like yttrium oxide are used for coatings in plasma etch chambers, reducing maintenance costs. Cerium dioxide abrasives are used in the Chemical Mechanical Polishing (CMP) process to achieve extremely flat wafer surfaces.
The Impact on Adjacent Technologies
Optoelectronics and LEDs
REEs like cerium and yttrium are vital for the production of white LEDs. These LEDs are increasingly used in various applications, from displays to therapeutics.
Silicon Photonics
In the emerging field of silicon photonics, REEs like erbium are being studied for their potential to enable silicon to emit light, thus making monolithic silicon photonics chips a possibility.

China’s war chest of rare earth patents give an insight into total domination of the industry
Published: 3:00am, 20 Jul, 2019
China had filed for 25,911 rare earth patents compared to 9,810 from the US as of October last year
China has been investing heavily on facilities to do the bulk of the dirty and environmentally damaging mining and ore processing work for the world, systematically turning its know-how and methodologies into patents that could give it a competitive edge against its rivals.

China Solidifies Dominance in Rare Earth Processing
By early 2021, China will have accumulated more rare earth patents than the rest of the world combined.
Chinese companies can use patent-trolling and patent-ring-fencing legal strategies to undermine or nullify existing non-Chinese patents.
China’s rate of filings is accelerating relative to the rest of the world - increasing 250 percent from 2011 to 2018.

And that’s the stoooopidity cheered on by folks like you … you might as well be 5th colum nist
The Chinese had “virtually” no chip making ability/foundries 6 years ago
thanks to the USA who did the job for the Chinese
Where their Government was trying to get their people to switch to homegrown chips before the sanctions
China is now expected to take over those legacy chip markets
If the USA was smarter instead of cutting off China from semiconductor chips and equipment for manufacturing
They should have themselves and their allies, lowered prices even more, and dump even more chips on China
Instead their idea was to force the hand of Chinese people at the time content with cheap imported chips.
Hope they could not innovate
When there is now a 7 volume 27 book series on what China invented first that says the world copied from them
And China leads the world in 57 of the 64 critical technologies of the future 🙄
At one point China was importing over 300 billion in chips a year
Now they will probably be exporting around 200 billion dollars worth of their own homegrown chips per year, within the products they export

How Close Is China to World Dominance in Legacy Semiconductors? 27-02-2024 | By Paul Whytock
* Bread and Butter Technology
Obviously, China would like to be a major player when it comes to high-end sophisticated semiconductor devices, but that doesn’t mean they are not interested in the bread-and-butter end of the market, particularly when it comes to legacy products.
In fact, they are very interested in the legacy market, and there are some very good reasons why.
Legacy devices make up a huge amount of global chip sales. Most chips manufactured today are not advanced chips but legacy chips, and around 71% of devices
* China's Aggressive Expansion in the Semiconductor Industry
In September 2023, Reuters reported that China was set to launch a new state-backed fund aimed at raising about €43bn to support its chip industry, and according to research analysts, the Rhodium Group, in less than ten years, China is expected to domestically add nearly as much 50-180nm wafer manufacturing capacity as the rest of the World.
The views of industry analysts and observers vary, but generally speaking, it’s thought that 22 wafer fabs are being built in the country, and there is an overall plan to create a total of 30 new wafer fabrication plants.
Many of these will concentrate on the production of legacy devices.
As for market share, industry intelligence gatherers
Trendforce believe China’s legacy chip manufacturing base could provide as much as 30% of the global demand for older devices.

China’s Homegrown CPU and Lithography Machine for 7nm Chips Conquer New Heights
Aug 2, 2023
Shanghai Micro Electronics has developed advanced 28nm immersion lithography machines domestically in China, bringing them closer to 7nm chip manufacturing capabilities.
Medium
China will never make an EUV machine like ASML.
That's a stupid, complicated and very expensive way to build EUV.
Is Christophe Fouquet 8ft tall? I own the stock and am interested in what he has to say.......but he looks torched in the cheap parlor sized chair. We are in a global transformation. ASML is an investment not a day trade.
