- I’m a beginner trying just getting into fly tying. The Standard Whipping tool happened to be the tool that came in the set I received, but there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of videos on how to use this particular type of whip finishing tool. I came across Zach Outdoors’ video where he does a decent tutorial on how to use it.
• How to use a Thompson ...
I just wanted to provide a different angle to help out other beginners. Check out Zach Outdoors’s video for the tutorial.
I have been trying to figure out my tool like this through RUclips and until now I still had no idea how to use it. Thank you.
I bought this tool, reviewed a lot of videos, but I didn’t get anything right, thanks! This is the first correct way to use it!!!
Yup, I had this exact tool for 20 years, never knew how to use it, lol. Thanks for the vid..
A bit too fast, by the time i look at what i am doing you moved on and i was left frustrated and lost. I eventually figured it out on the 10th view. Thank you for the video, it was the clearest i found for my tool
OMG!! Thank you! I had tried to use "the regular technique" with this Whip finisher for almost an hour...
These are tough. One thing that i found helped me anyway: after you secure that second hook onto the bobbin-side thread leg, go ahead and cut the thread, throw the whole infuriating POS in the garbage, and order a Matarelli-type whip finisher. :)
clearly you have used it for flyes havinf hackles very close to the eye of the hook. This toools creates a close loop, so you dont trap hackle fibers like you do with the matarelli
same tool. gave up on all the other videos but this one worked. Thank you
Glad it helped! There’s a link in the description of a kid’s RUclips video that helped me a bunch where he talks through it.
I swear this video show the thread and tool doing a magic ring trick! The thread is in the forefront of the tool and as he brings it to the left suddenly it is behind the curve in the tool!
Thank you
I put it on .75 speed, bro you are the fucking man !!!!!!! Thank you so much , seriously!!!!!
Great idea. I just recently learned you can watch stuff at different speeds. My 6 year old is teaching me 😆.
Thank you very clear !!
mine keeps slipping
seems harder than other way or seems different
Капец!Какие сложности?Есть узловяз простейший и удобней.
Agreed. I only made the video because I was frustrated with trying to figure this out and at least want to help others figure it out if it’s all they have. 😅
that's fine unless your left handed
Won't eff any more beautiful flys up now 😢😂
I hate the clock...
THIS VIDEO MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL YOU ARE NOT SHOWING EXACTLY HOW YOU ARE DOING THIS, LOOKS LIKE THE THREAD IS POPPING THRU THE TOOL SOME HOW AND MAKES NO SENSE
Check the description. There’s a better video explained there, but the video quality was poor, so this was just to supplement that. Try that video and see. However, like the other commenters, this tool isn’t the easiest or the best for this job.
@@DrAlNguyen THERE ARE BETTER TOOLS FOR DOING THIS OUT THERE. i MADE THE MISTAKE OF BUYING THIS TOOL, i CAN DO IT BETTER AND FASTER WITH MY FINGERS... AND THAT VIDEO WAS JUST AS CONFUSING, ALTHO I DID FIGURE OUT HOW TO USE THAT TOOL, I DON'T LIKE IT. IT MAY WORK GREAT FOR BIGGER FLIES BUT IS USELESS FOR TINY FLIES SIZE 16 OR 18 OR ANYTHING SMALLER, THIS TOOL JUST DOESN'T WORK FOR THOSE SIZES.....
If you have two hands, the is unnecessary and in my opinion a sign of bad fly tying.
🤓🤓. You’re a fudd bro.
