Easiest explanation ever. I always did these by hand. 30 years ago all I had was books and it never work. I took my whip finisher and bent it to death with pliers and then cut it into pieces with wire cutters out of frustration back then, just so I’d never do it again. 😂 Just got back into tying flies and that was easy. I watch 4 other videos and got no where. Thanks!
Some of these videos are overly complex, but this one is perfect: straightforward and clear. And I like how you repeat the process numerous times. Perfecting the whip finish has been the most annoying part of learning fly tying, so this helps. Thanks!
Thank you for this! The whip finish step always messes me up. I've watched every video I could find without much success.. Your explanation made it easy and I finally got it!
I’ve been typing my own flies for 25 years and always threw the whip finisher away cus I could never figure it out. My flies would always fall apart cus my scruffy fingers would cut up the thread but this was a amazing explanation on how to use it. Thank you.
Excellent demonstration and explanation. I have referenced your video several times to understand how to use this tool. Thanks for taking the time to step through this and add your tips to remember how to use it.
I have tried watching a few videos on how to do this without success, after watching and following this guide, something just connected and it totally made sense, the shouts of joy brought the house running. Something so simple once you have seen it done correctly. Thank you.
Very informative video. Getting ready to order a kit and start tying. This video answered one of my questions. Thanks for the demonstration. Take care.
Thanks for your tuition, everything you say about skin is me. Had this tool for some time now and not been able to use it until watching your well put together video. Thanks for your help 👍
LOL, no, I've just focusing on my tenkara fly fishing blog now: tenkaratalk.com/. I took a hiatus from backpacking for a while, but am getting back into it. I just ordered a Quarter Dome from REI for a trip coming up in a couple of weeks so hopefully I'll get some video from that. Thanks for missing me guys!

Finally a worthy explanation. The frisbee analogy combined with showing each step several times was exactly what I needed. Thanks!
