This is the best way to teach anyone compass errors. Actual, live visuals. Not something a still-image in a book can do. I will refer to you in the future.
The best video that I have seen on this topic so far. I could do without the distracting music during the narration however. No type of music during any explanation videos is what makes the best videos.
No, because in this type of compass you view only the part of the rotating ring that faces the pilot, in the little window. Unlike a traditional top-down compass, when traveling north you're looking at the southern-most part of the compass showing in the window. Therefore, that part of the ring is labelled with "N". If you look carefully at the diagram you'll see it.
@ 5:50 The compass showing North & south. The colour coding of magnetic bar is wrong, North should come in red colour side, south come in blue colour side.
What will happen if we use Vertical Card Compass? Will the indications still remain the same? Because this is a Whiskey Compass, so the readings are opposite, right?
But it is actually incorrrect! with the vertical force the magnet move like you described, but the center of gravity moves in the opposit. Tray you at home don't belive me!!! take two hangers, one in your finger end the other attached on the first hanger on one side, and try to move forward and see. Or simply try to rebalance it and you would see that you should move your finger near the weight applied by the second hanger and not away from it. The center of gravity move to the added mass!!! PLEASE REPLY ME SOMENTHING.
That’s what I thought at first also but you have to remember the compass card is in reverse for the pilots view so the north and south would be upside down on the read out and if you watch the previous videos, it explains why the compass card is in reverse for the convenience of the pilot’s view. Then I thought the arm in the center of gravity on the compass,… but then I remembered that the compass is a magnet that still has force being applied to it by the magnetic field.

Exactly and also not someone’s stupid face telling you something but instead having this type of content is what works best. 👍
One of the better explanations on the web or ANYWHERE!
this is the best video training source among others, even better than my instructors

Finally! This is a very good explanation! Thank you!
This channel is often linked in my online ground school comments to make better sense of the lesson when it's not understood. And I'm ok with that.
Thanks a lot! I had a headache trying to understand these errors.
The best video explaining the compass dip errors!!!!
Very useful, thank you for the visuals. They give a better understanding of PPL Navigation.
Such a precious channel. The best of the best explanations I ever met. Very useful for the theory preparation. Thank you so much!❤
The best explanation in world history Thank you so much.

5:47 should the N point up?

thank you was great and very helpful
This is the BEST.
Thank you for your videos
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 perfecttttt explanation ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😮
SUPERLIKE!!!!!!
It is a great explanation but your sketches are upside down per hemisphere and direction
Tnx alot you solve my problem
What is the max magnitude error? For example: what HDG we will see on the compass during acceleration on HDG of 260 (Northern Hemisphere) latitude 40?
Having the compass in the pilot’s view position screwed with me… just why?
@ 5:50 The compass showing North & south. The colour coding of magnetic bar is wrong, North should come in red colour side, south come in blue colour side.
You are looking from behind the compass, so N on the blue end, points to magnetic north on the red end.
Thank you dod do you have a website?
Hi Ahmed, not yet, but I’m planning to create a website in the future!
@@AviationTheory I really admire your work

i think your representation of compass and its heading is incorrect and confusing
I’m afraid the animation isn’t quite correct.
