Why haven’t any of these manufacturers made a big one that does the knob and deadbolt in one unit, or two units that can connect and only need one keypad outside
Thanks for the measurements. I have the U100 and am looking at getting this one as well, but I was worried about the spacing. I have about 6 inches between the middle of the locks, so I think I should be good!
Nice job again, Brian. I've had a U100 since it came out and find it totally reliable and a great product. I'm sure the U300 is, too. Although it certainly won't apply to my situation here in the Southeast US, I'm curious as to what will. e the best way to lock/unlock the door in the cold weather you have. I'm guessing an automation of some sort will be what you'll use.
I'm waiting for the silver one that's supposed to come out next month. I like black for locks/handles but my doors are very dark so it's a terrible match. Especially at night where it basically disappears without adequate lighting. That happens to my Lock Pro, I don't want it happening to my lever. I know I can figure out where to find it but I hate the look aesthetically lol.
@@AutomateYourLife One more thing, I like your idea about using your camera. I already had a similar one in mind that I want to use with Home Assistant. I want to use the U300 for my Garage entry door so my plan is to put a PIR sensor there to unlock only when the door is locked and closed. This way I pretty much have my own version of passage mode that I can turn on and off when I want and not have to deal with Aqara's version where locking the lock disables passage mode and requires an admin to be there to turn it back on.
Well done Brian very thorough video as always what’s the best method to use to get some technical advice from you on Aqara door locks suitable for a European door ?
I'm a little torn about choosing the U300 vs the U50 for my garage door. The door has both a latch and deadbolt lock. Sounds the U300 would be easier to use with the fingerprint reader after a long commute. But in your recs, you said the U50 might be better for the garage? Why so? bc it's a deadbolt and more secure?
Hey Brian! Thanks for the robust review! I just picked this up, along with a couple of presence sensors. Do I need a hub for those to work with basic alexa routines? I have not installed them yet....
is it possible in apple homekit to use the u300 unlock or lock trigger to control a u50? you seemed to imply it only worked if the u50 was the unlock trigger? I would much rather use the better fingerprint reader in the u300 to open both locks.
Have you had any issues with getting everything connected, using the M3 Hub but you can only work the settings of the lock when connected to it by Bluetooth? It's not showing the U300 under the child devices of the M3 so I wonder if that's the issue. But, I can't get it to become a child so...
It won't be a child. So that's working correctly :) You can manage ALL settings by Bluetooth, so you're ok that way. But yes, managing the detailed settings only happens through Bluetooth
By far the best in depth review of this lock. Thank you! As always I'm here for "the geek dive".
Geek diving every day! Thanks G Rae!

You'd think someone would sell a few!

Should fit! Good luck!

This one, I'm using to lock the door to my office. I had it on the garage for a while but didn't love the dual lock situation
Another great, incisive review, Brian. Thank you!
My pleasure! Thank you Big Bear!
U200 door thickness = NOOOOOO. That made me burst out laughing. :)
Ahahahaha, that was Blake's addition to the video. He's so funny sometimes!

Aesthetics matter! Wait for that silver version and enjoy. I think it'll look great on a darker door...I've seen a few of them.

Definitely one of the sleekest looking smart locks.
Yeah for sure!

Hey Roger, you're a member. Feel free to reach out through the About section here on YT. There's an email :)
Best review on youtube!
Glad you think so! Thanks!
Is this fully outdoor rated? Including the "interior" side. Would love to use this as an outdoor gate lock.
Not the interior side, sorry...you can see that spec set in the unboxing portion of the video to see if it fits your use case though.

That depends on the presence sensors. I'd recommend you get an M3 hub though, especially if they are the FP1E :)
@@AutomateYourLife they are the Fp2 sensors. Just looking to make sure all of it will work with Alexa routines.
It'll work without a hub. You're good to go :)

If you can do an unlock with the u50 you have with Apple HomeKit, then yep. I didn't check that though. :)

This looks perfect for European doors. When can we get it in the UK?
That's a good question! I will ask :)
Did you get an answer?
The only thing I don’t like, is the placement of the fingerprint sensor and the keyhole, I feel like that easing be damaged if u are not careful
Giver! I think this is perfect for a home office
That's how I'm using it! Works great for that and it runs automations well
