    i spent $80 on a dewalt electric screwdriver, so i could quickly remove and install face plates on data jacks and other long machine screws i commonly come across. This tool seems preferable to the electric option. Its lighter, fits in a tool belt better and doesn't have a battery to charge, so its more reliable. Wish i could trade the drill for this

      This is some good feedback, and yes it is very light and easy to keep in your tool belt nicely.

    Robert, you tell exactly how it is - needed! As this is probably one of the most poorly understood Wera tools by its users which is a shame as the mechanical engineering is brilliant and in practice a wonderful tool to have and I have one indeed!

    As a reply to @MustPassTruck: It is not the engineers.... it's the marketing department... it is always the same people: admin, marketing, finance, sales who screws up designers and engineers good jobs eg and to sum it up it is always the same culprit: money!

      Yes, it is a specialized tool, not for general use. Great if you do repetitive jobs and need the extra speed.

    Leave it to engineers to design a 4X mechanical screw driver that costs more than an electric driver.

    Can you hold the back and spin the middle portion. If I have to use two hands there is no point to this

  • @ChargedPulsar

    I don't think this tool is practical. You have to "push" the button every time to switch to turbo, because while at "turbo" you can't use the screwdriver as normal screwdriver. But you have to do the switch, because the torque at "turbo" is 4x lower. And the switching action, takes away all the speed bonus there is.
    As one youtube video explained, this turbo screwdriver is most suitable for light duty, laptop assembly, disassembly.
    Because the lowered torque is perfectly fine there and also the sweet spot to not break the plastic screw slot.
    This turbo screwdriver is not suitable for furniture assembly or higher torque bike repair etc. At least it doesn't offer anything extra.

    Why would this be better than Bosch Go electric screwdriver? The Wera Turbo weights 230g, and the Bosch Go weights 310, so 80g different, but with that you get electric.

    Don’t see the point in paying so much money just to undo a screw a bit faster, here’s a tip loosen the screw with the handle then hold the shaft of the driver with your fingers and spin the screwdriver and it will undo the screw a lot faster than normal. Save your money

      I agree this is not for the casual hobbyist, but for someone who does repetitive work, this could save them time and fatigue.

      This is NOT an insulated driver handle, you should not use this tool around live circuits. The insulated version will show rated to 1000 volts on the handle.

    I was gonna smart off something about me not being smart enough to use a screwdriver that needs an instructional video. Until you said 4:1 turbo mode, I got a little chubby... If it was also a ratcheting driver I think the video might have had a happy ending!

    Kobalt makes a double drive 6x ratcheting screwdriver for much less.....and it is excellent quality.......

  • @star-lord3079
    @star-lord3079 3 года назад +1

    You need 2 hands, it's faster but not better than a ratcheting screwdriver.

    • @robertthetooljunkie8152
      @robertthetooljunkie8152  3 года назад +2

      Used properly, it should be faster and reduce the fatigue if you are doing repetitive work. This could be overkill for just a few screws, it shines when you have many screws.

      I compare it to Wiha's Speed E which has a similar concept but is purely electric and cost about $235 . Yeah you get a bunch of stuff with it, but you have to charge it and it's performance is meh. Really they're meant for the same kind of work, but in a pinch the wera is cheaper and you never have to worry about it running out of juice. The Wera Turbo is about half the price too if you get it with the bits and blades so you get the same tool concept for half the price and no power issues.

    Would be so much better if you could get turbomod without holding the front piece.
