    The coolant in these engines is ht-12 green that is UV reactive. Get a black light and inspect the engine bay at night... any leaks or drops will pop imediately :)

    Could the coolant being this low have caused any damage to the engine? Thanks

      @Yehoshuasoaress  9 дней назад +1

      Unfortunately no and honestly after further investigation over time the oil filter housing was failing due to it being plastic and the high heat from the engine I think a upgrade to a aluminum housing and a heat exchanger upgrade and u will never see this issue in my opinion

      @@Yehoshuasoaress Didn’t you mean to say “fortunately, no” instead of “unfortunately, no”?
      I ask because my coolant level is very low and I got the message very late on the iDrive! Wish it would have told me sooner!
      Now I’m worried if I may have caused some damage to my engine. I haven’t driven it and instead switched it off and will buy coolant today to top it off.
      I think the cap might be the culprit but need to top it off and keep checking it at regular intervals.
      Also, can I top off with a universal pre-mixed coolant for now?
      I will be getting it flushed by the mechanic and then will only use the BMW one going forward.
      Thanks for your response and help 👍🏼

      @@YehoshuasoaressBro if only I could buy upgraded aluminium connectors then I’d happily pay for it. Why BMW make these stupid decisions is beyond me 🤦🏻‍♂️

    My B48 230i had a cracked hard coolant line. You are pointing to a hose at 3:31. The tube directly under that hose and under your hand at 3:32 at the upper left of the coolant reservoir, goes under the engine, and cost around $800 to replace. It was breaking a little bit, and losing coolant, couldn't figure out why, and then it broke big... and was easy to see what was wrong. Might want to check it.

      Yeah so luckily my hoses where under warranty at the time it cracked for some reason both of mine cracked and bmw replaced both at no cost luckily 800 is a lot and it’s Little hard to diy something like that if u don’t like working on your car 🙏🏼

      Yeah my 330i B48 did this recently except all coolant lines then failed the pressure test. So BMW in Australia replaced them all at $2399. Coolant light has come on again this morning but will check when the car has cooled down. I right pain.

    For both of the tanks dose it matter what type of coolant goes in it

  • @ElEhbner
    @ElEhbner 2 года назад +2

    Have the dealer replace all those coolant hoses it’s a common problem with the B48.

    • @Yehoshuasoaress

      They did already when they broke

    • @technopro-kz4xv
      @technopro-kz4xv 2 года назад +2

      You need to replace the coolant cap. If around the cap you see white stains or residues it’s the sign of coolant evaporated.

      Yeah same check the hoses make sure nun are cracking first then. If that doesn’t work If u see dried coolent around the cap when u take it off I was told to either take the cap and replace it or the or ring on the cap
