Many rural post offices closed in August 2018. Not this one, thankfully. They [the government] took the heart out of Ireland, my uncle said. RTÉ said 159 post offices where closed, but some people counted around 225, if the numbers included the non-rural ones they also closed on the same date. Anyway, yes they took the heart out of Ireland. I never used a rural post office but can appreciate how valuable they were to those communities. It's a numbers game now. Individuals don't matter so much. They call this progress!

Kitty and Jim are both still there, but now (very recently for Kitty) retired.
