    Guys he was just rolling up a canvas drop cloth to protect the ice from leaves. If wind blows loose leaves on the ice, they attract light and will melt small spots where they lay

  • @insaneboy683
    @insaneboy683 13 лет назад +1

    They did a lot of sick moves for the amount of ice they had. I might show this video to my hockey team... honestly. Our coach always complains how we don't "save ice and use small spaces". This vid exemplifies HOW to save ice and use small spaces. Lol, think I'm gonna facebook share this. Great job guys.

  • @rsulrich13
    @rsulrich13 12 лет назад

    If you have slope in your yard one side will have a lot more water than the other side. I just did my backyard rink for the season and I have about 8-10 inches on one side and 3-5 on the other. Just keep filling until you have about 3 inches at your shallowest spot.

    Depending on where you are, and provided the average nighttime temps are getting to just above freezing, it can take anywhere from 2 - 4 days to make the first slab of ice. Once you have 2" - 3" of ice made, the chiller unit(s) can maintain this all winter up to about 45 - 50 degrees F.

    good luck. if u have like, a barn or if ur basement is big enough u can build on in there, or there is this thing called "synithic ice'' (not sure if i spelled it right) but its ice that u can wear ur skates on and ur skates dont get screwes up and the ice doesnt melt

  • @customicerinks
    @customicerinks  13 лет назад

    @BlackSunShreders You would turn the chiller off and then wait for the ice to melt. Once the ice has melted, they roll up and store the rink piping, boards and staging area and then they can use the in ground pool again!

    This rink is refrigerated on a level staging area. If you are making a natural rink on an area that has a rather large grade, sometimes it is best to just pool the water and wait for it to freeze solid. This will depend on your weather and the amount of grade you have.

    These are specially designed "foam" boards from Athletica. They are covered in canvas and connected with velcro. This makes them very portable and also helps to reduce puck noise.

    With this being a refrigerated rink, it should only take about 2-4 days to make your first ice slab. You can skate on as little as 1.5" - 2" of ice and it will stay frozen up to 45 F. Be sure to visit our website for more information!
