    • @DomanationTravels
      @DomanationTravels  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks for watching our videos, we are so happy to hear that we could help you with planning your vacation. For Budapest, we actually exchanged money at home before we left so we didn't end up trying to exchange money anywhere. In general, when it comes to Europe we prefer to withdraw money from a proper bank instead of cash exchange store.

    Budapest is relatively easy to travel by foot especially if you stay on the pest side. There are a lot of cool bars and cafes. Spent 1 month in Dec 18 to Jan 19 and will be back again. Didnt want to do everything there and just take my time since I know the place pretty well now. One thing to do is the thermal bath and is the city is cheap.

      Hi Thanks for the great question. We started with Budapest first and then went to Vienna and Prague. I don't think it matters too much which direction you go once you are there. We started in Budapest and finished in Prague because for some reason our flight home was much cheaper if we left from Prague.

    So glad I found you guys! What can you advise when it comes to buying the Budapest public transport tickets? Thanks in advance

    • @DomanationTravels
      @DomanationTravels  5 лет назад +2

      Thanks for the great question. When we were in Budapest we bought the 72 hour unlimited ride ticket. This option was very convenient as it allowed us the peace of mind to not worry about how to get a ticket each time we needed to use transit. However, because Budapest is so walkable we probably would have saved (not much) if we just bought a ticket whenever we needed to use transit. Therefore consider how much you like walking, how much you value convenience, and how tight your budget is. Personally I would probably go for the 72 hour ticket if I had a choice. I hope this helps!!

    Szabadság híd (in English: Liberty Bridge or Freedom Bridge) is not a pedestrian only bridge. A number of trams cross the bridge as well as other road vehicles.

      We purchased a 72hr transit and used subways and trams a little bit, but we also walked alot! The city is fairly walkable but using transit will help sometimes. We didn't try a hop on hop off tour bus so not sure how good those are. Hope that helps and have a great time in Budapest!

    What was language barrier like? Planning on a trip and Hungarian is very intimidating to try to learn!

    • @DomanationTravels
      @DomanationTravels  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks for your questions! Overall the language barrier should not be a problem if you speak English. Many restaurants have English menus and a lot of people working in the service/tourist industry will speak English. Like with other former Eastern Bloc countries the older Hungarians are less likely to speak English but that shouldn't really affect your experience much.

    Correction on the video...Liberty statue....let's be frank, the Soviet "liberation" amounted to rape, murder, and political suppression of Hungarians and occupation of Hungary. But I am glad the statue now commemorates Hungarians who fought both the Nazis and Communists for freedom. Other than that...good video. :)

    I don't know if New York Cafe paid you to promote them, but the food is mediocre for the price you have to pay for it (not high quality and tiny portions), service is also quite slow. It's hyped up and not really worth visiting considering you don't really get value for your money. Sorry, but just wanted to point that out to people who consider going there. I do think you made a lovely video and I enjoyed it.

    • @DomanationTravels
      @DomanationTravels  2 года назад

      Thank you for the feedback and sharing your experience. I guess we maybe got lucky because we found the service was just fine. It is true that the prices are more expensive then what you can get elsewhere in Budapest but we still enjoyed the experience. Unfortunately we are not big enough to actually get sponsored by anyone but we would definitely disclose it if that was the case.

    • @DomanationTravels
      @DomanationTravels  5 лет назад

      Thanks for your question! All of these sites in our video are around the city center so either staying in the city center or somewhere close to a subway station would be very convenient. We stayed at an AirBnB in the city center and fortunately there were many affordable options to choose from. As for airports, there is only one international airport for Budapest. The location is not the best but there is a bus service that connects to the subway. An alternative option is to take a taxi from the airport to the city but since we didn't do this I am not sure how much that would cost.
      I hope this helps, let us know if you have any other questions.

      Hi Afia, thanks for the great question! Budapest is fairly affordable overall. The food prices are very reasonable and a lot of sites are things you can enjoy without paying anything (Fisherman's Bastion, The exterior of the Hungarian Parliment, Chain Bridge, Hereo's Square etc...) Here are the things we did pay for in the video (approximate USD cost in brackets) : Szechenyi Bath ( $20 per person), New York Cafe ($15 per person), St Stephen's Basilica Dome ($2 per person), Goulash Soup ($5 per person), Gellert Bath ($20 per person) for a total of $62 dollars each. We of course did eat more meals that we did not include in the video and we had to pay for our Air BnB as well. I hope this is helpful!

Hungarian is a very difficult language but all of the main sites and attractions were friendly to english speakers and so were a lot of restraunts.

      Thanks for the great questions. As expected the prices are not the cheapest but if budget is a concern you have the option to get just a drink, but if you don't mind spending more you can get meals and nice deserts too. Here is a link to the complete menu: www.newyorkcafe.hu/menu.html

    Very informative video! Did you mostly walk to get to the attractions? We plan to goin 2019 and we’re trying to decide whether to do it on our own or pay for a structured/ guided tour.

      Hi, Thank you for the feedback. Most of the time we walked between different sites since Budapest is fairly compact. It was a lot of walking so we also bought the 3-Day metro pass to use the subway or tram which was helpful for when we were tired! I hope that helps!

      Thank you for watching and commenting. Budapest is a great city to visit. We were only there for three days but we had a great time while we were there.

    St Stephen's Basilica (its not a cathedral) is not the largest church in Hungary. That honour falls to the Basilica at Ersztogom, former capital of Hungary and the seat of the Hungarian Catholic Church.
