      Michelle McGraw He seems to be doing quite well with his ataxia most of the time. Every once in awhile he stumbles sideways. He has a bit more trouble with his right eye, often bumping into things with his right cheek or startling away if he's touched on that side because he wasn't expecting it. We still haven't given him a pool of water he can dive in yet, but he's managing wide pools where his feet can just barely touch the bottom. I'm hopeful for his swimming future!

    It's actually really heartening to see even experts struggle a bit with training an animal. Each animal has their own personality, and if they don't pick up on training immediately, it doesn't mean you're doing a bad job, it just means it will take a little more time and patience.

    Jessi, you are amazing! I love your positive attitude, your level of patience with the animals, and the fact that you always put them first. Your channel always brightens my day! I really love how you show that each species is unique but each individual also has their own personality. I have goldfish and when I tell people that they have different personalities they often giggle as if I am just convincing myself that they do, but they truly do. I hope that your channel continues to grow and that more people can witness how interesting and animals are and how each animal is an individual!!
    Also, I had heard of clicker training before seeing your channel, but I never understood exactly how it worked. The way you explain it in this video and the other training videos makes perfect sense and I can't wait until I can get an animal to clicker train! (college student probs)

    Twice last year, I saw separate beaver roadkill, something I'd never seen in my state of Maryland all 35 years of my life. Both times, I was running late. Both times, I lamented not throwing the carcass in my trunk to make sure that the gorgeous beaver pelt did not go to waste (I'm a leathercrafter with a little butchering experience, how hard could it be?). Regardless or missing out, beaver are amazing creatures, and the one positive takeaway from my experience is that it seems like their numbers might finally be growing in my state. I hope that continues!
    I love this show, I love Complexly (and semi-related, I love PBS)!

    • @ShadeSlayer1911
      @ShadeSlayer1911 6 лет назад +4

      They're already dead. Might as well try to make use of the carcass, right?
      Now that you made me think of it, I might have to start picking up roadkill to donate their skulls to the university museum. I should put together a kit for that though, so I'm not unprepared and just grabbing dead animal with my bare hands. And I suggest you do that too. Some gloves and whatever you need to cleanly transport such a thing.
      I've heard that beaver pelts will last literally forever if they're taken care of, so it really seems to be worth the trouble if you feel up to that sort of thing.

    • @notnormalyet
      @notnormalyet 5 лет назад +3

      Careful. Picking up roadkill is against the law in a few states.

    My heart my heart my heart! Huck is adorable 😍
    I think he looked quite happy to explore that new environment LOL Proof that he really does trust you towatch put for him, perhaps the public presentations have taught him this.
    I know how frustrated I can get when an animal just isn't particularly motivated by food and wants to do their own thing - my German Shepherd wasn't ever into food or toys as an adult dog!
