We just had our 2024 Ford Bronco Sport catch on fire and explode this weekend. Ford won’t help us at all because no injuries and they have not officially added the 2024 Ford Bronco Sport to the recall. Ford told us to send our feedback to a PO Box!! Our vehicle was 6 weeks old. No error messages or indications that it was on fire.
What kind of “help” are you looking for? The vehicle is insured so they should compensate your loss. If you didn’t have insurance, you can sue. If you had an injury, you could sue. If it damaged your home, you could sue. What isn’t clear is what are you expecting from Ford. Cars don’t have smoke detectors or heat detectors so none will warn you of a fire.
Thanks for your critique of Ford's abandonment of product quality (Quality is Job Last). BTW, I had a Pinto wagon for many years, and it was a great small carryall "shooting break", and it never exploded.
I believe the problem is that when techs start trying to pull injectors, the weak injectors will break off. That would require removing the cylinder head to push/drive out the broken injectors. When one would require driving out due to being stuck in the bore, the cylinder head could be damaged. EXPENSIVE. Instead, they come up with a clown repair. Pintos never got hit in the rear and burst into flame.... Yeah right! Kind of reminds me of when the state police mounted those big radios in the trunks of new squad cars years ago. Then a trooper would key his microphone and BOOM. The trunk floors were the top of the gas tank. Sheet metal screws worked until the current from those radios arced to ground.
Excellent clear communication. Ford ha issues with Triton spark plugs breaking. TECH at a Ford dealer broke three and drove one into block. 4000$ out of my pocket I got my truck back. Glad your stepping up on this and I believe there needs to be more videos like yours❤
I am not sure it's a us specific problem. The Mk3 Kuga PHEV had some issues with its High-Voltage battery which got them recalled. They also recently removed parts of the engine undertray and active grille shutters on my 2020 Kuga PHEV due to some issue where fuel-air mixture might be able to escape due to a leaky gasket or something. They "fixed" the fire hazard by allowing more ventilation in the engine bay.
I got screwed over by Ford when I had to pay $2k in cash to get my clutch repacked in my 2015 Ford Focus after the DCT failed on me. It should’ve been recalled and fixed. But nope, a broke college kid (myself) had to foot the bill. Never buying another Ford product in my life.
Modern cars are so infernally complex, it's no wonder we're seeing an increase in recalls. Even Toyota and Honda aren't immune. I'll keep my 2010 Honda, thanks very much. Even if I need to replace the motor, it will be cheaper and infinitely less aggravating than buying a recall magnet. I think the new official "old man mantra" should now be "...cars these days..."
My son sells Lexus. I love their recall story. Picked up the first 4000 cars they sold. Left a loaner car Fixed them washed them fuel ed then and returned them. Didn't bitch or cry or any of the crap the big 3 is famous for. It's hard to see an industry die but it's time. Look at the Rabbits Lenny.
Why are the American brands still in business? They are a national embarrassments that have been in decline for decades. Less product lineup, less quality, less profits, less market share, bankruptcies, retreat from global markets and constant recalls.
"Why are the American brands still in business?" In all seriousness their vehicles have good marketing and good image (and drive well). I.e., they give people what they want in vehicles like the Bronco, Wrangler, Mustang, Challenger, F150, Silverado, Ranger etc (hence their lack of success in the economy car segment where it's more of a functional purchase and poor quality won't be forgiven). The build quality is not their top priority, and not the top priority of their buyers either.
Because they are the business. Look at vehicle development. It was European and American companies. From windshield wipers to superchargers. Coil springs. And some seriously "American flavor" vehicles. You won't get this stuff from Japan, Korea and China. Have you not ever driven a Corvette or camaro ss? A Shelby ? How about a raptor? Charger? The trucks too. GMC has made about every level truck imaginable from little pickups to semi trucks. Military vehicles. You are giving the Japan and Korea way more credit than it deserves and american companies not enough. American companies can and have built some great vehicles. And many do actually last a LONG time. Im a little surprised you even asked that question. People don't give the American companies enough credit
@TassieLorenzo I personally have just experienced the opposite. It feels like every year the American brands have a decling image. Like all their "cars" some like the Challenger went against the trend. But most American cars reputations kept going into the gutter. I just drove a last gen Chevy Cruze and I was astounded at how terrible the interior was. It had the cheapest thinnest plastic on the gear selector and everything was fading. The car was only a 2016 model. I feel like their decling sales and market share show they are losing out on customers. I have seen driveways once filled with American brands when I was a kid change to only Japanese, Korean, or European brands now.
@TassieLorenzo I don't think flagship nameplates like Mustang, Silverado, Bronco, Wrangler, Grand Cherokee etc are going to be enough. Those models are well known to be suffering poor reliability and quality. It might be fine now. I just don't see how it's sustainable.
@@baronvonjo1929 "But most American cars reputations kept going into the gutter." That's true! That's partly why they don't make sedans and small cars anymore. On the other hand, the Toyota Tundra has been trying to win market share from the US pickup trucks and that has been slow going (Nissan gave up entirely on the Titan). The full-size pickup trucks and their sales volume and high profit margins are the foundation of the US manufacturers (and hence why they lobby to make sure CAFE rules don't go too hard on pickup trucks).
So they eliminate the fire risk, and cut power so you'll take the car to get fixed? What exactly is the problem? Why should they replace perfectly good injectors? I'm sure they did the math and the number of injectors that need to be replaced under warranty plus the cost of this fix is cheaper than replacing them all, indicating there is a low failure rate. Is it because of the fire risk? Even without their fix, the risk is minimal. Cracked injector doesn't automatically mean fire. Also, hey, if the smell of gasoline is coming from your car, maybe you should check on that?
I don’t understand this line of thinking. The fact that there is a recall being issued at all means this is more likely to fail than a normal, fully functioning part. If it doesn’t catch on fire, great! You aren’t on fire. But you’re still going to have a broken car leaking fuel. I don’t want to drive around in a car with reduced power leaking fuel from a faulty part, because this isn’t a 30 year old project car which I paid $500 for, this is an almost brand new vehicle which I would have spent tens of thousands of dollars on. You’re stuck paying the bill for something caused by Ford’s negligence in quality control, that’s the reason recalls happen in the first place.
Whether the plant is in Mexico, the United States, Canada (or Argentina or South Africa or Germany or Belgium or Turkey etc etc...) it's a Ford plant and it's up to Ford.
not IF..................when it cracks. Ford is junk how can you say you LOVE cars jon and say you like the ford escape....taste bro taste. Oh and NO they cannot do better.
History with Ford repeats itself!
@ 1:54 if we were both sitting around a fire, hopefully it wouldn’t be an Escape on fire.
LOL. I didn't think about that when I said it.

Dumping fuel on the ground? EPA and CARB emissions approved!

I was driving a Ford Escape 2022, it went up in flames.

Those Pinto wagons were the best body style because they did not caught fire. Those few extra inches of rear overhang did wonders
"Quality is job NOT"

Lool, same US Ford again. European Ford never had such a huge issue with the Kuga.
Had 78 MK1 Fiesta. Superb vehicle

Interesting, i believe similar problem with fire under hood with Everest, this is not good for Ford off road vehicles.
Hello John, I think to myself, what would happen if there was a brand that makes a car 100% correct with no recalls and no issues?
That is sad...all they needed to do was replace the injectors....not a good move by ford
Going into low power mode is no fun either, like when youre on the Howard Franklin and there is hardly a shoulder.
Ford trying to beat its recall record again. Powershift 2.0.
these small ecoboost are no good

Hey hey, its a hot dog roast at Ford 2.0! The 70's had the Pinto. The 20's have the Bronco. Bad ponies!

Jon - at this rate I think Chris Farley would have been a better CEO of Ford than Jim. They never learn from their mistakes.
That is greed and laziness and its worst 😡😡👍👍

Hasn't ford always had these fire problems with some of the ecoboost engines?
yes, the 13-16 Ecoboost 1.6 engines
Uh Ford… They used to be such a good brand. Even till recently. I’m just so disappointed with them recently. Jim Farley has just got to go.
yeah, this Farley guy is long overdue for an "early retirement"
@@engineer_alvHe damaged Ford Europe completely, which was like Ford’s most valuable asset that saved them in 2009.
How sad...😢
Still liking my 2022 Escape. it gets great fuel economy, quiet, ride/handles well. Also, Ford will replace injectors for free (22N18).
Thankyou for this information
terrible PR
How i get that pdf information
