Open tuning put a small sticker at the nut, mark it 1. then a 3 on 3rd fret a 4 on 5th fret, a 5 on 7th , a 7 on the 10th and a 1 on the 12th bad to the bone is 1 4 1 3 1 Thus code is musically correct and it won't take long for a newbie to take the stickers off
Sweet. Why I was drawn to resoguitars was you could take them anywhere like a Park or House Party, and sound loud and play blues and rock nice and loud. I even play punk on mine sometimes. But Bukka White and other Delta blues is my thing.
I like open 'G' and open 'D' because... with both of them you are always taking tension off of the guitar from standard tuning and don't have to worry about over stressing the instrument.
I learned slide using standard tuning and learned the fretboard very quickly. It was one of those eureka moments. Open tunings are fun I suppose hahaha Great little clip and thank you!
Open tuning makes slide guitar so much easier. I prefer Open G, E, and D. Open G for "Stop Breaking Down". Open E for "Statesboro Blues" and Open D for "Feeling Bad Blues." Then I'm in heaven.
Damn !! I have been doing that since the 90’s I didn’t know why it works but now I see that it is the 1-4-5 progression. I like to play in open G (D. G. D. G. B. D ) I also find that no mater what string I am on if I slide up and move to the higher or lower string it sounds good. It also works if I slide down. I play by ear and just listen for what sounds good and works for me. I also go up the neck to the next octave and repeat what I did an octave lower. I am thinking about what I can do going across the neck up and down. Thank you! If anyone reads this , wants to play slide, I hope this gives them something to try and that it works for them. Duane Allman and Warren Hayes, Jimi Page, and George Thurogood and the Delaware Destroyers have all been an influence on me. What I listened to will eventually come out again not as a cover but as a technique or sound that I first heard from them. Bill Blough, I still can’t do the main things that George does. If you remember Debbi Carlton and her pen pal Wrench, 1980’s Seventh Day? Well I am Wrench. I would like to learn one bourbon, one scotch, one beer, / Gear Jammer / I drink alone / can we get in touch? I am in Camden. And Free (sort of)
Justin, You should hookup with Will Wilde who plays the absolute Wickedest Harmonica on the planet . I mentioned you to him and he told me that he would do it. Seriously now and no joke. You both are absolutely Great individually. And you both have your own Unique > When The Levee Breaks ! You wont be disappointed Justin i promise you. He has a RUclips channel as well , and a real nice guy. Please let me know what you think of his playing if you haven't heard him play yet .... It would be a ground breaking move on both your parts and guaranteed Blast for you both even if it was just for fun... As you have always seemed to be a good guy as well . Dang i hope you get this and at least check him out. Peace

What kind of slide is that may I ask? Very cool. Most slides of glass or steel seem to be too bright to me.

I need more thumb practice. My timing is the problem with slide
What material is that slide ?
