  • Md. Abdus Samad Al Azad, Joint Secretary (FTA-1), Ministry of Commerce, recently advocated for a paradigm shift in compensation models within the Bangladeshi garment industry. Speaking at the round table and learning dissemination event co-hosted by LightCastle Partners and Policy Exchange Bangladesh, Mr. Al Azad emphasized the need to move beyond man-hour-based pay. He urged for performance-driven mechanisms to elevate the global standing of Bangladesh's exports.
    The event was held as part of the Bunon 2030 initiative, which is a part of the H&M Foundation's “Oporajita: Collective Impact on the Future of Work in Bangladesh” project. Oporajita aims to empower Bangladeshi women garment workers in the face of increasing automation, circularity, and decarbonization, LDC Graduation, among other challenges.
