When we told friends and family we were about to take a 7 day cruise with Princess Cruises we were met with lots of questions. The main one was about food and if cruise ship food is good, or just a buffet?
In this vlog we spend a day on Sapphire Princess tasting as much cruise food as we can, someones gotta do it 😜, in the name of a review and answering the question - is food on a cruise actually tasty?

I am not a fan of cruising because of the short time in each port but am considering it now for a larger group trip. Keep up the amazing work!
You're too kind, thank you. We always felt the same about the limited time in port, but now we're changed for sure. If you want a full immersive vacation a cruise isn't the way. But if you want freedom, no need to unpack/repack daily, relaxing, options, loads of experiences, and complete and utter ease then cruises are amazing!

I've been watching loads of RUclips cruising videos, as I'm quite excited about booking my first cruise. It will be on the Sapphire Princess, so it was delightful to see your video exploration. You both are quite photogenic and pleasant to watch and you discuss things that actually matter to your viewers. I should mention that your B-roll shots are exquisite and very professional. Great lighting, composition, and subtle camera moves that put you a cut above the usual cruise video. Well done!

We did a Mediterranean Princess cruise a month after you guys and we did the balcony champagne breakfast too ..... We couldn't believe how much food we had and so much left overs. We were eating pastries for days. 😊😊😊

Thanks Javier! Glad you're enjoying. Creating content is, for the most part, our full-time job now but it's not how we started travelling full-time at all. Work life balance is very hard, we work too much to be honest. We try and keep a routine that works best for us :)

We found out afterwards the pizza on Princess is actually award winning, can honestly say that it was pretty amazing! I mean local beers and a pizza slice sitting outside the walls of Dubrovnik is hard to beat, but the taste was definitely better!

What's the Italian coffee maker? Is that one of the stove top kind of things? We're biiiig fans of our Aeropress, so light and portable. But when you can grab a latte its hard to compete with that
Daneger and Stacey Heard a lot about the Aeropress. The Italian one is indeed the one with the stove on top. It’s also known as Moka maker and in Dutch it’s nickname is ‘pruttelpotje’.
Ah thtas the one, the moka. So I did some tests in London with our friends moka pot and found that the Aeropress made a ver similar cup and was a lot lighter! Might be worth a look 😀
Wow all that looked amazing, to say im very jealous is an understatement, awesome video though, and Italian restaurants food looked unbelievable, especially stacey's Tiramisu. Much love from the uk to you both. ( im hoping maybe one day you'll visit Gibraltar as it's my birth place ).
Sorry for making you so jealous 🤣 Gibraltar is an interesting one, hopefully one day we can explore properly. I actually have set foot there in port when I worked on a super yacht (Dane) but didnt ever get the chance to properly visit.

Awesome vlog as always!! I've never been on a cruise because I think about maybe getting seasick. Can you tell me if any of that sort of thing was happening?
There were a few people worried about it, but it's honestly not that noticeable. If it is, theres a guest services you can grab some tablets etc to sort you out. We were both absolutely fine!

We went on the Regal Princess this past February and it was the Love Boat cruise with Captain Stubing and his tv daughter Vicky ! Captain Stubing wanted to break the world record of the most Vow renewals at sea! It was one of the best and most loving cruises we have been on ! We have been on many! Our favorite way to vacation! My husband a Captain and me a Flight Attendant for 35 years! This is the only way to vacation for us ! You can see the whole ceremony on you tube Regal Princess vow renewal 2020! Very beautiful!♥️ coming to you from Cleveland Ohio! The great debate here in the USA is tonight

If you like to coffee, then get the coffee card attached to your sea pass card. You'll save some money... The lemon cookies at the buffet area are really good also. Cheers
That is actually excellent advice! We totally should have got the card actually, would have saved 20% or so I think over 10 coffees. Does that sound right?

Ultimate Balcony Breakfast $45.00 per couple I thought was so expensive, until you showed how much food you get.
You're mostly paying for the champagne and the experience, but like you said, the amount of food was insane! We couldn't even eat anywhere near half of it!

Have never been on a cruise, but got pretty obsessed about it lately, watching all kind of youtubers focusing on cruising.
There's definitely a bit of a shift at the moment towards people testing out cruises and sharing on RUclips, can't say we've seen anyone hate them, but we can definitely say we love this style of travel!
Daneger and Stacey Would love to try, but seems tricky/expensive to do it solo.
Definitely not as cost effective solo by the sounds of it, which is a shame. Hope you can find away around that, or someone to travel with, you won't regret it!
@:51 The chocolate dessert with the golden peanut is so amazing eh!....Just out of interest were you guys given those Princess bathrobes? Usually just reserved for suite guests and above, score!! Sorry one more question how was the coffee? I honestly found it hard to get good coffee on our ship even from the International Cafe.
That dessert was from a different night but we just had to include it as a little b-roll segment so ya'll could see it, it was magic, honestly. The coffee from the International cafe was actually really nice, exactly as we would have expected, but the other coffee for we found around the place was often filter stuff which isn't our preference really

This might be a strange question but do you know if the TV in the room had an easily accessible HDMI port? I am going to be on the Sapphire Princess later this year and was hoping to be able to plug in my google chromecast and stream videos from my laptop to the TV! Cheers
Not a strange question for us - we've got a fire stick and hdmi cables/adaptors for our Airbnbs! From memory we could get access, just, but the tv was recessed a little into the wall so access was a little blocked. Will vary by room though

If there are no prices, generally that means it's an inclusive restaurant rather than a specialty restaurant.
Try a cappuccino ? Latte is milk.
Was there any real bread on board or just the usual stuff made from chemical laden mixes & made within 4 hours (instead of 18 or 20 plus) from start to finish.
Can't say we're bread specialists sorry, sounds like you are though... there was all sorts of different types of diets and food preference options onboard, can't say we really looked though.
Real bread is made with just flour, water and a little 'starter' previously made & kept going for years, somewhat similar to making yogurt with a 'starter' from a previous batch of yogurt. Properly made bread is full of B vitamins. Bread & raw dairy were the fundamentals of European food for centuries. Most of it is gone now, even in Central Europe, so presumably in Eastern Europe too.
Apart from the specialty restaurants, are the rest of the other food places free?
I think most is! The buffet and ice cream and such for sure

The thing with cruises is that when you visit the different locations scheduled on the cruise you only get maybe half a day at the locations for a lot of cruise lines (not all). If you're the type of traveler who really likes to explore the place you're visiting, you really aren't at each destination long enough to do much. If you're doing it for the relaxation, then it's perfect.
Similar attitude to us, we've been so excited to take a cruise but didn't know if we would really vibe with it - the travel is a little surface level, like a taster. The next few vids we show the excursions and they're loads of fun, super easy as well. But so different to spending 3 days on foot exploring some where.

Been on four different cruise lines and, while the sweets all look great, the flavour always disappoints.
We're guessing you've never tried these cookies then?? Or the ice cream? Theyre amazing.
I see you don't mention the horrendous plastic plates, bowls and mugs in the buffet, and also how small the buffet is and the very limited choice compared to other lines.
Honestly can't say that we saw plastic plates and bowls etc, seems a bit odd. There was plenty of selection at the buffet as well, the serving area was huge.
I have never known what it feels like to be over weight, but with all the temptations you will.

Pretty sure Gordon Ramsey would have a heart attack on the lack of seasoning on a cruise ship. Everything to him would be bland.
Completely disagree actually. The food we had in the main dining hall and specialty restaurants in particular were AMAZING and top quality restaurant class.
There is something very odd about this video. It must be a promotional video by Princess because there never seems to be very many people doing anything on this ship. I have been on a dozen Princess cruises. I can almost never find peace and quiet; this couple ate pizza amongst a dozen empty lounge chairs!! Impossible! One child at the ice cream stand? Impossible! Get a nice quiet table at the coffee bar? Impossible! After a dozen cruises, you would think I'd learn.
Haha sounds like you gotta explore more, Tim! There is a bit of a secret deck on top of the deck over looking the pool that we found for the Pizza and we were surprised as well. Depending on the weather the lines at the ice cream varied, on this particular sea day there was no one. The coffee bar was a trick though, we took them up to the buffet area to find somewhere quiet :)
