They might have had an agreement with the previous owners, and bought a section. It happens. They might have been the original builder of both sides, and took a slice of the land. There's lots of reasons. There's no way they just built a garage on a piece of land not theirs without serious consequences.
The young woman said she'd make it pretty. It could be a plus. Put a trellis up it with a climbing plant like clematis; put a pretty mirror on it to reflect flowers and greenery, attach flower baskets. I'm sure it will look lovely.

The neighbours' garage in the garden is bad news, indicate problem neighbours who don't respect boundaries and will continue to make your life difficult. These people don't stop unless they're stopped, they're bullies

Love the show but yipes, many of them ugly houses for so much money. Tunnel-like hallways, gardens that are a barren patch, no decor to speak of. And some of them built within inches of each other! Shocking.

The property looks like it has been split from what was a larger single dwelling. Meaning a side portion of the house has been sectioned off to sell.
They could build a fence blocking the garage so the yard just has a jut in it.

We don't know the circumstances. It may have been that the neighbour sold off a plot of land to the side of their house to build another house on.
The current neighbours might not do be the ones that built that garage.
How can you call them names when you don't have any idea about the circumstances?
