For graphic novels, I'd recommend Stitches by David Small. I'm not sure if you've read it or not. It's pretty good! For comics, maybe Batgirl vol. 1 Batgirl of Burnside. I haven't read it yet but I heard it's good and I've liked the artist of it for a while. Maybe try Li'l Gotham vol. 1 by Dustin Nguyen? I don't think you have to be super familiar with Batman characters to enjoy it. It's super random but cute, and told in an episodic way.
You should read Matt Fraction's Hawkeye. David Aja's art is gorgeous, Fraction's writing is wonderful, and they do things like have an entire issue from the perspective of the dog or one that's almost entirely in sign language.
Based of the Marvel titles you're reading, I would highly recommend Runaways, it's one of my personal favourites and it got me reading marvel comics outside of X-men
If you're super desperate for Vol 2 of Young Avengers, you can get it digitally on Comixology for like nine bucks. Also check out Matt Fraction and David Aja/Annie Wu's Hawkeye run. It's wrapped up and in four trade paperbacks: My Life as a Weapon, Little Hits, LA Woman, and Rio Bravo.
If you are in for dark themes, you should consider : SANDMAN by Neil Gaiman and MAUS by Art Spiegelman. For awesome characters, like Ms Marvel, you should look at: PERSEPOLIS( I got a feeling you will REALLY like this one) by Majorie Satrapi. And for SuperHeroes stuff, (until you can get vol 2 of Young Avengers) I highly recommend: HAWKEYE: My life as an weapon by Matt Fraction, and CAPTAIN MARVEL:Higher, Further, Faster, More by Kelly Sue. And if you are just into pretty looking art, i think you should set your eyes on: THE GRAVEYEARD BOOK, by Neil Gaiman and PRETTY DEADLY by Kelly Sue Deconnick
I'm really loving all the comic and graphic novel love from you recently. I only started reading them this year so it's great to hear about more that I can pick up :) Good luck finding volume 2.
I really think you would like the Morning Glories series, it's and Image comics series about these kids at this really messed up school. I also think you would like Runaways, a Marvel series from the mid 2000's that has recently gotten a new 4 or 5 volume complete collection, they sometimes had adventures with the first Young Avengers.
I've wanted to get The Sculptor for a while now. It looks so good! Baba Yaga's Assistant looks so intriguing too, I can't wait to try that one! I have only recently started getting into graphic novels in the past year or so and I'm so glad I gave them a chance. I am adding Honor Girl to my list as well. Thanks for the great suggestions! This One Summer (same author as SuperMutant Magic Academy) is also a good one, the art is so memorable to me.
Stitches by David Small, Persepolis, and Watchmen by Alan Moore are some really great graphic novels you should read. Watchmen is also a movie and Persepolis was made into a cartoon too.
I really really like these videos because I want to read graphic novels/comic books, but i didn't know where to begin. These videos let me know where I should start and what's best for me. You're awesome!
Have you read the Bone series? There's 9 books total but they come in three separate bindups... such a good and cute little fantasy series. Sixth Grade me was in love with it. I highly recommend it.
Oh and also i would suggest the Supernatural series.Theres this one supernatural book where you choose what happens and theres different endings and choices so you could read it more than once and read it differently than the first time you read it.
I got into comics this year too and I've got some recommendations: batman year one and subsequently the man who laughs the killing joke justice League vol 1 by Geoff Johns green arrow year one if you're interested in the classic stuff look into marvels epic collections like the amazing spider man epic collection: great power
I've read the first trade (and am waiting for the second) of The Midas Flesh, by Ryan North and somebody Paroline (I think?), and that's really cool and weird-- it's a Star Warsy space adventure where a diverse crew of characters are looking for whatever turned planet Earth and everything on it into gold... so they can use said power to throw off the oppressive government. Really excited to get on further with that...
If you are in a rush to read young avengers, You can buy a digital version of young avengers vol 2 on comixology in the mean time while searching for the physical copy! They have a app for most e readers I believe!
Have you read or heard of any of the Poison Apple series books? I remember this one I read in elementary like 6 years ago (I'm a freshman now) I believed it was called "Now you see me" or something like that.
I recently found out about this absolutely great comic series called Rachel Rising. It's about a girl who wakes up in a shallow grave and digs herself out. She's not a zombie but she's definitely not alive either. It's a really engrossing mystery and i'd love to hear your thoughts on it. There are 5 trades so far so you have plenty of material to keep you busy
if you like graphic novels based in schools, I would recommend the rosario vampire anime series. It is about a boy named Tsukune whos parents send him to a monster boarding school and he is a human so he has to try to survive
I totally recommend some DC comics because the storylines and writing is fantastic especially Geoff Johns and art style is great especially Jim Lee. Pick up some you wont regret it.
I have the same with art styles I normally don't buy dc comics but I love the artstyle of bucky Cloonan and I heard good reviews about Gotham academy so I think I gonna read it even tough it's mostly because of her style
Please read MousGuard: Legends of the Guard! It's a spinoff of the original mouseguard but you can read it without reading mouseguard and it's about mice in a tavern telling stories about courage. Super great and good for all ages !
I really recomend Watchmen by writer Alan Moore and artist Dave Gibbons. It is The classic graphic novel that you have to read. And it really is great!
I absolutely love your videos, especially your ones on graphic novels and I find that you are the only booktuber who gives me the right information that helps me decide whether I want to try out the graphic novel or not! I love graphic novels and comics so much; what is your favourite?
I just read Ghostopolis! It wasn't my favorite but I hope you like it :) You should pick up Ryan North's Unbeatable Squirrel Girl. The first trade is about to come out.
Since you're enjoying Ms. Marvel, I'm going to take this opportunity to recommend Captain Marvel as well, since I will pimp that out to anyone. Carol Danvers is one of my favorite superheroes now. Also, check out Matt Fraction's Hawkeye series! The story is fantastic, the characters are wonderful, and it's SUPER innovative and original; there is an issue in the second trade told from the POV of the dog. It's perfection. Happy reading! Danielle
Jesse, have you read Saga? I assume you have and if you liked that I suggest Low by Rick Remender, it is such an interesting and face-paced sci-fi comic book!
Sitrah! you should read Sitrah. The arts are stunning and you will like it. The story itself is amazing. and you can read it free on webtoon every monday :)
I've had the same problem with Young Avengers - so frustrating! I might end up giving in and buying the omnibus... You should read Thor: Goddess of Thunder - I loved it! :)
Hey, Jessy. Last couple of month you do a lot of video about comic book and graphic novel. First, thanks for that. Second, I got one question for you - Have you ever read Watchmen by Alan Moore? If answer is yes can you make video about it? Because it is very AWESOME graphic novel with super interesting plot and great picture style.
We have a place near my house called Baba Yagas. I'm not sure what they do but apparently they have waffles so I'm going to have to check it out some day.
I will try to ask at my comic book store to see if they have the Young Avengers. Will be going on Wednesday and let you know if they have it there and/or if I can order it from there. Great Comic book/Graphic Novel Haul
I love how you're starting to read comics because I don't read them but I would like to try them and you will be the perfect person to advice me in them ❤️
Hey! I was interested in Flight but on bookdepository its for about $25. I find that very expensive since I'm a student and can't afford to buy several volumes for such price. Does anyone know where I could get them for a lower price?(I live in Europe so i'd need it to be online)
This is gonna sound like the complete opposite of what you may enjoy but I highly recommend suicide squad vol. 1 (kicked in the teeth, not the newer vol. 1). it's dark but it's still a very dynamic and fun story and every character is written beautifully. Also, it makes you REALLY excited for the 2016 movie.
I know you're not a huge fan of mature content. However I've read a lot of comics and graphic novels and saga has been my favorite by far! It's amazing! You really should give it a shot!
YAAAAAY Ghostopolis is so underrated! OUhhh Sculptor is definitely on my tbr! Ugggh I just wasn't a fan of the first issue of the Wicked and the Divine either.
this makes me really want to read all the graphic novels and comics.
I forget if you have read Persepolis yet, but it is really fantastic!
For graphic novels, I'd recommend Stitches by David Small. I'm not sure if you've read it or not. It's pretty good!

I don't think you have to be super familiar with Batman characters to enjoy it. It's super random but cute, and told in an episodic way.
Baba yaga is a figure out of the slavic fairy tale world. She's basically like our western witch.
My august wrap up is up on my Channel (25 books this month)... :D
+books by leynes I read four books... but they were good books.
