  • The Reducing Male Suicide Research Theme 3: Connecting men's relationships, mental illnesses (including anxiety and depression) and suicide risk
Featuring RMS Research Cluster Members: Dr. Paul Sharp, Krista Fisher, Michael Wilson
Featuring RMS Community Partner: Akash Asif from ‪@centreforsuicideprevention‬
In the space of men's mental health promotion and suicide prevention, the Reducing Male Suicide (RMS) research cluster focuses on 3 research themes to expertly evaluate and treat men’s mental illnesses and suicidality.
Difficulties diagnosing and treating men’s anxiety and depression can lead to increased male suicide risk. Relatedly, men’s intimate partner relationships are poorly understood from a strength-based critical masculinities perspective. Theme 3 focuses on exploring upstream avenues, such as healthy intimate partner relationships and peer support, and developing interventions for preventing anxiety, depression and suicidality by engaging men to build better relationships.
