    And, PS, this is great. Growing up on a farm as well as commercial fishing boats, you''d think they'd stay with ya but they don't when you don't use 'em often. Bravo, well done. Look forward to seeing your other work here.

      I'm sure we could figure them out. Just at first glance, #2 is a surgeon's knot, #3 is a double fishermans bend, and #5 is a double bowline..

    I'm an old sailor and know most knots. My all time favorite is #3. It is said that in the old times when most sailors were illiterates, they used this knot as a love letter. When at sea, they sent the knot (not pulled together) to their loved ones. If they got it back pulled together it meant she was still with him. If it came back not pulled together, they were off.
    #5 Bowline. I can not see any good reason to make two loops 02:56 when one is more than enough.

      Actually, I don't know. I only know it as the 'love knot', but I think it's just a nickname. It's not used much on a sailship. It's a quick splice option, but not useful in a sail rig.

  • @zecuse
    @zecuse 2 года назад +4

    Number 4 should have the working ends of those loops starting in opposite directions to make the Zeppelin properly. You should end with only 2 loops over the whole thing that are used to easily pull it apart. This has 4 loops that are harder to pull apart and the ends look like they will slip together if put under enough load (I could pull them to about 90° from each other whereas a proper Zeppelin will keep them at 180°).

    El tercero un nudo de pescador doble.
