This is still great advice 10 years later
Hey Joe Ogden. Thanks for that tip. I bagged a beautiful 15 pound Merriam last week using the call you show here. There was another hunter across the canyon calling too, and the birds paid absolutely no attention to him. They came in hard to us and I got the tom. Great video!
I tryed those fast cuts and yelps this pass April on opening day for shot gun in Kansas, And man i gotta say it work far better than what it was expecting. My first tom was shot less than 30min after sun rise (SE Kansas). and then the following week less than an hour after Sun Rise (NW Kansas). Thanks so much for your share if skills.
Im in the uk, never been turkey hunting but loving your vids! I now want to come to america to have a go at popping a turkey :)
Keep em comming!
Belly crawling up towards that tom. Brings backs some memories...lol Too bad I could not get mine to come in closer. Did not even took the chance. But got him afew days later with a few yelps and a gobble on 2 different calls. Btw, great video.
Cant wait to try your calling technique. A couple more months cant wait.
Very good advice on calling in turkeys I could use all the help I can get thanks a million
I would love to watch your channel. Because I can watch all the videos in it with great pleasure. I look forward to your latest video. I heartily congratulate you. And thank you so much. Keep going
Wish you all the best
I like your video, you hunt and call just like i do, i don't use blinds at all, not against using 1 i just don't like them, mimicing a hen works great, i have several times gotten into arguments with the boss-hen when the flock gets hung up, i get just as loud as she does and even cut her off, this gets the Toms all-riled-up they start gobbling and sometimes come at a dead-run, I have called Toms away from hens using this tactic, getting inside a Toms head and learning what trips his trigger is an art...............
you have to love hunting out west. Kansas has got the turkeys! awesome video
I see the bloody things all over the place on the way home to Overland Park.
I Would Love To Go There Some Time To Hunt Thank You
I'ma try it! Can't wait! 2 More weeks!!
im gonna try it.thanx!! one month can't wait
Great example of how calling to the hens bring in the Tom's.
Hell yeah
Great video guys! Cant wait to watch some turkeys do the flippy flop this year
great stuff , can't wait to try
Last piece of advice was the best... Tight lips don't say nothing if he's coming!
what decoy would you recommend to carry in my pack? cant seem to decide and would you always stick a hen out with jake decoy? trying to sharpen my turkey skills a bit! thanks
You need to take a jake decoys along with a hen, the older toms will come right in to fight off the jake for the hen, good luck this season!
Y’all people here saying you gonna hunt the turkeys, I’m only out here to talk to those turkeys that are chilling near my house.
Guess what works best for all us country boys , in the woods . Go out about 930 or 10am to a high ridge , deep breath --- and shout HEAR TURKEY .... HEAR TURKEY TURKEY TURKEY . Be silent for five min and repeat till the Turkey arrives then harvest as allowed by law .
Any time I've ever called at a bird that's that close it's locked him up or he went away
it's way funner shooting them long range with rifles, you can usually get quite a few at once
It's way more illigaler too.
scared a mother off her nest when skidding logs hydro cut on property
that was at noon and she has not returned at 8pm
anyone know if once spooked will they return to nest (9 eggs in the nest)
and know i am not going back all the time i can see the nest from the house with binocs
yes they will return
If only I watched this before I went out trying to talk to those turkeys instead of scarin them with weird noises
"IF ... 0nly ... "
How many times have turkey hunters used that phrase ?
I’ve killed several gobblers by calling the boss hen to me. It works.
Do you shoot a Turkey in the head or the chest area?
+Elle Chase Head /neck hits make for instant kills. Chest shots will take a bird down but sometimes mattering on distance and load can result in a wounded bird on the run never mind the pellets you will be spitting out if you find him. ALWAYS head and neck.
+Elle Chase Always head and neck! Unless your shots are super close and your pattern on your shotgun is pretty tight or your bowhunting, always head and neck!
Trad Bowhunter here - broadhead thru the chest - the head and neck are too small for a good clean hit.
I H ave Had More Luck shooting Them in the crop area thank you so much for your comment B&J hunting
^^ of skills Miss Type :D

The Republic of the Gobbling Flockers gobblingly disapproves of this video since it's about hunting our kind. Go hunt the white feathery resistance (white turkeys)
Horrible! turkeys are not food, they are individuals who value their lives as much as we do and they don't want to die. Shame on you
go have a bowl of soy.
