- It’s time to pick a stain color for our red oak floors. I had a really tough time deciding especially because what I want, isn’t necessarily going to match our trim. So I had to compromise a little bit and pick something that would match the trim and be the lighter look I wanted. That’s okay though, I do think that it will end up beautiful!
What do you think?! Tell me in the comments!
I choose Minwax Oil-Based Golden Oak with a Water-Based Polyurethane in satin. Nothing that I tried here or even the Varathane brand lol. But that’s what happens!
My favorite was the golden oak. Beautiful floors.
I love my golden oak floors!! Glad your here on youtube!!
Love the warmth of your trim and the floor stain choice!
My husband and I both loved the Golden oak in your space, I’ve seen a few other renovators use it as well 🤩
The golden oak is gorgeous, they all are, but I personally really loved the last colour you stained. It was light enough but also had a beautiful warmth about it or something.
I cannot wait to see the end results. Your house is absolutely beautiful♥️
I think you picked the best you could given your options! I’m sure it’ll look great! I really appreciated how you said the reddish trim you were “blessed with.” That’s a super great attitude to have! Love it! Sorry the quality isn’t as it should be. That stinks, especially when you’re paying for it. Keep up the great work! Enjoy watching your projects! You do a great job! Blessings to you and the fam 🙏🏻😍
Thanks soo much! Haha definitely not taking it for granted!
Yeah, I don't think you can go wrong with some good traditional stained floors!! Any of those colors would be gorgeous.
The Golden Oak was my favorite. I bet you’ll love it.
Enjoy the floors! They’ll be beautiful no matter what color! 😊
Thank you Jill! Now if we can get the sanding figured out
Hi! Just found your channel. I would've picked the golden oak too, though all of them are pretty.
This video is really helpful! I'm coming across the same dilemma but with cherry wood. The floors are in great condition (just some fading in some spots), so I want to keep and embrace the color - especially since the paneling in the study is made from the same wood.
This was so fun to watch! I have a great feeling about this choice :)
Ugh you don’t know the hell I went through today 😂😢
Can’t wait too see the floor
I've never wiped off clear varathane before. Just stain....
So sad you were rushed but you picked a beautiful color!
Thank you! I hope it all works out!
Ugh! Rushing a decision is so hard. I had to do the same thing with a recent home reno project where I was going to do the painting myself after the contractors were done but at the last minute realized I didn't have the time or energy so had to pick and buy the paint in one evening! It's not horrible but the white I chose is definitely way too creamy for my liking. Sigh. Shame you couldn't do the clear, seems like that would've ticked all the boxes! (Lightest option, meshes with the trim, etc.)
I truly hope so! Really sucks when it’s something not easily changed! I hope it all works out. I saw the color and the color is now not the issue. It’s the quality of work being done 😢😢😢
How did you get the custom color? What did you have to take in so that they could match it?
Why can’t you paint the built ins and trim 🙀 or re stain the trim. I would do a black stain on the trim and a white wash on the floor. Whatever you pick will be nice.
Not even gonna watch it. Guarantee it Provential.
FYI she picked same way every other client of mine does.
" it's this one dark color. I mean it's dark, but not TOO dark. I've got pics here on my phone from Pinterest/friends house, screenshot of magazine pic.""
Lol.
