i wish i knew more about music theory so that i could analyze the way this song was written. I'm _pretty_ certain it was written in E minor, which makes sense for a Tango (which i'm pretty sure this is). Tangos tend to use the i, iv, V7, and VI chords in the scale, which this _does_ but it also heavily uses the bright and uplifting III (in this case, G major). It's really fascinating how the composer used the music to bring the emotions of the song to life. Also I'm pretty sure there's a key change to i think F minor after the instrumental near the end, but i'm not sure if i got that key right.
I arranged this for an orchestra and I can tell you you’re quite right. The song is written in E minor and modulates two times: first to Eb minor for the instrumental brake and after that to F minor. These modulations are done super cleverly by using the chromatic ascending and descending lines. For the G major chords the song always uses D7 before them, which can be thought as the V7 of G major, so it’s an intermediate dominant. This makes it so that we can ”modulate” for a while to G major without it sounding jarring. After that it goes straight to Am -> A#dim -> B7 (or first time to C7) which can be thought as this kind of ”modified” IV -> V7 progression with this added chromaticism.
@@Mysteriobaku ooOOoo thank you for this response! I'm happy i got it right as an amateur, but i'm even happier for the theory lesson! I'll have to look into chromaticism more, as I'm not super familiar with the concept. Good compositions fascinate me to no end
feels like i am hearing a disney song where the heroine is drunk but finally having the time of her life. her life is gonna change after the hangover is gone
It took me a while to realize this song was actually a song from Beetlejuice(I had only really heard it on videos that were not about Beetlejuice before) and that Miss Argentina was singing a song about being regretful of killing herself(hence the slits on her wrist it’s implied that she sliced open the major arteries in her wrist and bled out)😭. It also took me a while to realize that she was referring to doing cocaine when she sniffed and said you know after the verse about going to parties a lot. it’s such a dark song, but it’s so catchy and it’s so crazy how much you realize and notice when you’re actually paying attention to something that you weren’t paying attention to before
Its funny that people are only here for rosie from hazbin hotel but im here just because its great music No offense to people who like hazbin i like hazbin hotel its funny as hell
Literally this is the happiest song about suicidal depression and I am not complaining.
