Swan Song is an excellent read. It's really stayed with me over the years. I did enjoy Scoop but it's very much of it's place and time. Probably one of the better of his books to read for somebody who hasn't had much joy with Waugh yet. I would also recommend Decline and Fall, even if you don't like Scoop!
I love that you and Marissa go book shopping often! You guys look so sweet in the photo 💜 I haven’t read Giovanni’s Room but I have read If Beale Street Could Talk and I enjoyed it, I think you might like it better based on your specific criterion. Los Empeños de la Casa sounds so fun! It looks like it is a play, a comedy of mistaken identities. Not sure how dirty it might be but it’s definitely secular. I love fashion plates too! The cover and illustrations of your edition of The Twelve Dancing Princesses look so gorgeous. I need to try Balzac too and The Odd Women is on my tbr as well. I’ve read Middlemarch twice and love it, I need to read more from her. Fanny and The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher sound really interesting. What a great and varied haul!
So many great books! I remember studying Hedda Gabler at theatre school and playing Hedda in an acting class. It was such a fun role to take on. I hope you enjoy all these amazing sounding reads!
You have a great variety of reading adventures! I am not so widely read, I tend to concentrate on the Victorian era. I am currently reading "Odd Women" by Gissing. I just discovered him this year and have read "New Grub Street" recently. I am really enjoying his writing style! Happy reading!!
Hi Heather, I'll check and see if the Arthurian book is digital. As for the Victorian books I finally understand why I don't get along with most of the authors. They're to long winded and depressing for me with few exceptions. Trollope and Eden are two examples. I'm curious about George MacDonald and Margret Oliphant though and hope you and Gina who's my other classics booktuber will read them sometime.
@@freshparchment I was thinking about La princesse de Clèves actually, but it was hard to find a princess with a cat on my lap and my glasses in the bedroom 😅
As always, your videos are cozy and give me so many great ideas of books to read!
Thanks so much!
A very exciting video, all those lovely books to read. Greetings from Ontario, Canada

Thanks so much! Especially grateful for confirming my Sor Juana and James Baldwin theories.

Nice! I'll now picture you when I get around to reading it. :)

I understand that. I do want to get to those authors one day...
@@freshparchment Sir Gawain is digital and is on my TBR. Don't remember if I've mentioned it but I'm non sighted so listen to audio and e books.
@@amy8458 You have. That's great that you found a copy that works for you!
