I’ve actually also read Evergreen years ago! I read it after it was recommended to me for something similar to The Thorn Birds, an absolute favorite of mine. And now I have Random Winds that I just purchased by Belva Plain and am excited to read it!

Nice video, Tammy! 👏👏👏 I always like hearing what others have read and enjoyed!
Joan Aiken was also a favorite author of mine when I was young. 😊 Never heard of that Christine Husom mystery series - sounds fun. I don't think I've ever read Belva Plain, but I might have to give her a try.
Some of my favorite books this year were -
*Becky Chambers' novella 'To Be Taught, If Fortunate,'
    *Mary Robinette Kowal's
    'Lady Astronaut' 3-bk series,
    *Nita Prose's mystery 'The Maid,'
*Kristen Perrin's 'How to Solve Your Own Murder,' &
*Vera Wong's 'Unsolicited Advice for Murderers'....
    .... and for non-fiction,
*Jaime Green's The Possibility of Life'
& *Florence Williams' 'The Nature Fix.' 😊 ~ Kim

You’ve certainly added to my list of books that I want to read! The Irving Stone book sounds wonderful. And several others on your list I’m adding. Anne Tyler is one of my all time favorites, but it’s been years since I read Breathing Lessons. I think it’s time for a re read. Loved Miss Pettigrew!

You had a fantastic year! I love hearing you talk about the books you really loved. I just did top 10 series but I did favorites for standalones. Some were Looking for Salvation at the Dairy Queen by Susan Gregg Gilmore and Iona Iverson's Rules for Commuting by Clare Pooley; Last Orders at the Star and Sixpence series by Holly Hepburn and Cousins Cozy Mysteries series by Beth Hamer Miles.

I consider "Evergreen" (and the others in the series) to be a right-book-at-the-right-time kind of book. I know that I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much, gotten as much out of it, if it wasn't for the Buddy Read. I would have liked it just fine, but the fact that we took our time with it and got to discuss big and little things in the book just boosted my enjoyment. Doing the Buddy Read helped me understand myself as a reader, too. Slow down, take time to think about what I've just read. Thanks for the video.

LOVED going down your 2024 memory lane. I remembered many of the titles from your videos. Interesting that many of your favorites were buddy reads which goes to show that even though reading is a solitary activity, loving books and the stories within them can be an occasion for lovely social bonding.
My top favorite book of 2024 was *Timothy, or Notes of an Abject Reptile* by Verlyn Klinkenborg, a novel about the famous tortoise of Britain's (real) 18th century naturalist Gilbert White. The story is written from Timothy's point of view in the most amazing prose. Timothy's perspective on humans made me laugh out loud. I didn't want it to ever end. It's a lovely wandering through a small English village in simpler times. I keep telling myself I will write Mr. Klinkenborg to tell him how much I loved it. It's certainly not a very well-known book but was written as if every word mattered to him, (which isn't surprising as he is a member of the editorial board of The New York Times.)...just my kind of book.

It sounds like you had a great reading year! I'm glad a cozy mystery series made your list of favorites. I haven't read that series yet. My top 4 new to me cozy mystery series in 2024 are Cranberry Cove by Peg Cochran, Pancake House by Sarah Fox, True Confections by Sarah Fox, and Lighthouse Library by Eva Gates. I also read a lot of non-fiction. My favorite non-fiction book of 2024 was Keep the Memories, Lose the Stuff by Matt Paxton. Have a wonderful weekend! 📚💛

If you like romance, have you read much Georgette Heyer? I wasn’t much of a romance and especially not period romances until I started reading her a couple of years ago. Some favorites are Frederica, The Reluctant Wife, and Cotillion. I found a copy of The Blue Bedroom lately and have it in my queue. Now I can’t wait to start it! Although have to wait a couple of weeks for the opportunity, which is hard when I want to start now! You had a great reading year!

Loved hearing all of your 2024 favorite books and happy my recommendation made it in the list! I have Tess....maybe I'll get to it this year. Some of my favorites were The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah, and The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins. I heard someone say something about one of the characters in The Woman in White that I hadn't even thought of....I may have to email you about it. I'll definitely reread that one someday!
