    It shows her biomechanics are already tuned for plyometric drills. She has a much easier time performing the drills than some of the MMA and bare knuckle athletes. I've watched Anzhelika compete for a number of years. Excellent athlete.

    The first muscle fibers to decline are your type 2 (most explosive muscle fibers.
    Dr Peter Atta, a longevity doctor said, as people age the risk of falls increases because their ability to redirect force to avoid the fall is diminished with the declining type 2 muscle fibers.
    However, if one does concentric box jumps twice a week one can stave off major decline in the type 2 fibers.
    A concentric box jump is where you jump up on the box and step down. Jump up again.
    After the age of 60, if you fall and break a hip, the chance of you dying in the next 12 months increases by 30%

    How many sets and reps for each exercise? Or should I even worry about that with plyometrics? I’m only used to the body building approaches.

    Karate itself is plyometric not sure how any of this improves her karate specific movements more than just training karate would. Could be a useful workout just as a change of pace to avoid overuse injuries from too much of the same movements from karate training while still getting some general quick twitch work.

      I wondered the same thing but using Phil's drills has helped my kick boxing game and you are right about overuse injuries. I was trained the old school way, drill until you drop. BTW is your last name, Noris? With respect, I bow to you sensei. PD you are the man!

      I think because sports like that where you stand with your strong side back, can cause pattern overloaded where you use certain muscles alot more on one side. This would help balance everything out

    • @chuck3586
      @chuck3586 11 месяцев назад

      @@Bumbaclart247 exactly. That's why no training is better than playing/practicing the actual sport in improving physical performance in that sport. Phil knows that. Doesn't mean anything is wrong with this workout.

    Hi Daru Strong. Plyometric exercise may help. Truth is, though, there is no "must do" plyo for karate. Basic calisthenics are what's important, to condition the body for rounded physical fitness. After that, karate's traditions as exemplified in the curriculum, take over. Karate is not athletics, bro. That's the real truth. 😗😗CHEERS.
