Q is the sickest, dopest, illest DJ on the planet earth. Flippn' Jimmy Hindrez of turntablism! Pioneer, creative, innovative...he has changed the game forever. Ill just plain ill!
I remember watching this when i was in elementary , 3rd grade im guessing? Im out of school now and he's one of the main reasons i became a Dj . Mad respect for Q
Im an old man now 32, I started in 1989. I was thinking of making a video for youtube to show what I do since my style is very different, I still need to learn the flares man, they are tough, like the one or double click orbital flares are so complicated and I feel you need them under your belt to have people take you seriously these days. Side note: Loved your favorites off your youtube page btw! Im an ass man too!
in a way, qbert was thr when scratchin was startin to be a hype. the man's a friggin T-REX of DJ world. the good part is, he is not extinct and running wild. hell yea...
gotta go where the money is at ... and in this instance ORTOFON is where its at! I'm actually feelin the new Q, ortofon better than the M44-7 and im a long time user.
Its simple, we all learned to scratch on technics but when ever some of us tried other makes and models, it didn't work out so here is a guy who is top of his game on technics, can rock vestax or numark and has a turntable designed to show off "his skills"! you see anyone else doing that?? on that turntable ?? by the way, HE WAS TIGHT AS EVER!!
that's the price you have to pay for your hobby. When I got mine I had to put them on lay-away and pay it off every two weeks and at the end of 3 months I picked them up. It felt THAT much better because I earned them myself. By the way they werent my first turntables, I had belt drive TT's 1st and then "graduated" to the 1200's
I was blessed 2 get a teaching job in italy teaching breakin' & poppin' & ignored the lure of tacchini, fila, kappa and other tracksuit that wudda made my ass luk good, ate spaghetti 4 5 weeks & came back 2 uk wit 2 brand new sl1200 mk2 & told a mate (Soulboy) 2 say 1 was his thru customs, we got a lucky that night, no duty 2 pay & i made it so thats how i got em, HARD WORK & SAVING MY ASS OFF! qfo outtaf my league now though as married wit children.heh heh
They do?! Even the M44-G? I had a set of Stanton AL-400s to start with and now have Shures and it sounded like the Stantons had torn up my records when I put the Shures on (until I set up the weight properly!). I heard that some carts don't pick up the freqs that they are doing damage to and you only notice later when you get better carts, my records sound good now but are Shures a good measure of that? Sorry to ask, you just worried me with your comment!!!
That M44-7 for sure eats vinyl, mine does. With serato it doesnt matter if you burn out your grooves just by new controller plates. Or you can be a complete wacko like me and buy 4 copies of all your battle records. Or if you suffer scratch addiction like me then you can have test presses of vinyl made for you, I go through rainbow records. about 300 bucks for a press you get 5 tests with that, not metal dub plates but actual records.
it's all in you're set-up. i have allmost zero weight and the 44's stick like glue homie. Also, i think its a preference. Just like reg vs. hamster. q cuts in hamster. adidas or some jordans. apple jacks or fruit loops.
I like Serato but you still need a good two hours worth of wax as a back up. When your CPU goes south at a gig it is a nice piece of mind. Yah music game is rough I dropped out a while ago I do this as a hobby now, I have a residentcy at a local club but its not serious to me only for fun. I made out better doing IT work with my life. I did get to meet and play with some cool people though, cant complain. Peace Blaze - best of luck to you.
@PiznizBizniz .. i dunno in comparison to m44-7 but getting them to be unskippable is a pain in da ass.. i have been asking dj's and checkin online forums and have yet to find perfect weight and height..
Records have always gone after 4 to 6 weeks of pure scratch practice. I mean when you have to turn up the volume to 10 just to hear your "freshhhh" sound and then ignore the high level of static that goes with that. I never believe these companies that thier stylus well be easy on your vinyl, it never has and never will be great for your vinyl to scratch on it. Just the way it goes I guess. I stick with the oldies, techs, vestax pmc06, shure 447s and an upgraded fader...call it a day.
Who are you to "judge" his skill? Are you better than him? Can you do 1/2 of the scratches better than him? Didn't think so, so until you can, quit hating on Q-Bert.
in a way, qbert was thr when scratchin was startin to be a hype. the man's a friggin T-REX of DJ world. the good part is, he is not extinct and running wild. hell yea...
OH MY GOD. damn. he does more on a single turntable than i can with two. the scratching is sick on this commercial. Qbert is the master.

Yo.. That scratchin was stupid fine... Those needles are dope.. I use that shit all the time in my shows..
I been looking for this for a while now
remember when qbert and the picklz used to rep the shure 44-7 needles? i still rock those needles because those guys pushed them hard back in the day.
Gotta get me one, it's a must have for real scratch dj's.
Saw him live a few time and he can put on a show, he's so fast.
wow first comment in recent day! you guys should release a remastered version of this if possible!!!
The grandmaster of the cut

M447 Has died

10,000 dollar needle? Pretty cosmic.
^I think the scratch is saying "bug on out"
when he does the faderless echo routine with the cop porn breaks beat it allways gets me

ortofon is the best. the M44-7 is a great needle but it has too much cue burn and it doesn't sound as good as an ortofon concorde S
ahhh like i said.. its all the same piece.. dingdong
