Love the fabric you used. Great directions. Thank you for sharing. A friend just dropped me off a train case she grabbed at a rummage sale for $1. I can’t wait to get started
You made it beautiful! This video really inspired me to continue working on the train case I bought about five years ago. Things kept coming up and I never finished it.
Beautiful work, I just found a similar train case at a vintage faire. Which type of Modge Podge do you use, I think there was bout 5 kinds at my local craft store,
Great info. Thanks for sharing. May I ask how this is being used today? And how is everything is holding up? Would you change any of your materials? TY
Not this particular train case, but another one I still have is holding up great. I perfected this process over many, many suitcase transformations, so I wouldn't change any of it. I'm happy with how it all works!
Great video, very inspiring. Just out of interest, do you use a particular brand of Decoupage glue. Is it a fabric glue or something like Mod Podge? Thanks.
If you have problems with sticking from paint or glue, you can try lightly dusting the areas with talc, cornstarch or baby powder. You might have to experiment with what works best in your climate, because humidity will play a role in sticking.
I threw out my moms old train case because it was the ugliest mustard yellow. Had I known I could do this I would have kept it! Now I’m mad at myself. But maybe I will find one out there. You did such a beautiful job. So cute. What was the type of glue used?
Thanks so much! You may be able to find another train case at a flea market or vintage shop. I use Mod Podge for the decoupage glue and Sobo craft glue for the interior.
I use Mod Podge decoupage glue to adhere and seal the fabric on the outside. I use Sobo fabric glue to adhere the lining to the inside. Hope that helps :-)
Awesome train case! What exactly is "mat board"? is that foam board?? thanks. And what kind of interfacing did you use? was it like batting or just regular interfacing. Light, medium or heavy? Have you ever tried using cardboard on the inside lining and sewing an elastic to hold your bottle etc? I love the hello Paris print you used. Thanks so much.
Hi! Mat board is thinner than foam board. It's usually used to "mat" a picture before you frame it. The interfacing I use is like a very thin batting. I just like a little bit of padding on the inside. I have not experimented with elastic to hold things, I like to keep the inside simple and clean. These are the materials that I have found work for me, but you should try whatever appeals to you! Cheers.
+Stacey Creek Ah, now I understand - thank you so much! Now I really have to find a vintage train case in the style you used - I really loved what you did. I would have been too afraid to attempt it before (also because of the smell often found in vintage cases). Thanks so much! :-)
I loved this video....my BF found me a train case...but, it has a strange smell....and i have wanted to do something just like this. But i was afraid....not after watching your video. THank you so much for sharing. I would like to ask what type of glue you use on this project? Thank you again. Tracy
Carrie Carrubba A half yard of each is maybe just enough. But I usually get a yard of each. That gives me plenty of extra in case I make a cutting or measuring mistake.
Thank you so much for this! It's well done and easy to follow! And, the case turned out so sweet! 💗

It would have taken me a long time to have done that and not anywhere close to what you did! You have an amazing talent!!
Thanks!
Stacey, this video is the best I've seen for refinishing a suitcase!!!!! You answered all my questions and did a fabulous job, thanks SO much, Marcia
So glad it was helpful to you! Thanks.
So very true. Thank you for sharing!

So glad the video inspired you!
Excellent work, excellent video. Thanks!
Wow that's alot of hours put into one case but the end result is amazing. Love it!
Really nice job! Lovely fabric too!
Thank you!
You had everything so neatly worked out.
Thank you so much. I was gifted a vintage case and I just didn’t know how to start refurbishing it.
Have fun. It will be a great project!
This is really helpful! Thank you for posting

I use Matte Mod Podge (it has the yellow label) because I like a non-glossy finish.

dnacp cb Glad you like the video! I use Mod Podge.
Very cool!
I love how neat you are!
I have a question. How do you keep the lid from sticking to the bottom after you have painted it?
If you have problems with sticking from paint or glue, you can try lightly dusting the areas with talc, cornstarch or baby powder. You might have to experiment with what works best in your climate, because humidity will play a role in sticking.
Gracias qe hermosa qedò...gracias x cada detalle me encanto 😍 bendiciones!!!
Love it!

Gorgeous. TFS
May I ask what kind of glue you used? Fabric? Elmers? Forgive me if I missed it in the video...
I use Mod Podge decoupage glue to adhere and seal the fabric on the outside. I use Sobo fabric glue to adhere the lining to the inside. Hope that helps :-)
Well done.
You work meticulously. I just redid the inside of a vintage suitcase using maps and I got mod podge everywhere.
It can be messy to work with. At least it dries clear!

Thanks! I'm glad you like the video. I use Mod Podge as my decoupage glue and Sobo craft glue for the lining.
Tracy Graff put coffee grounds inside the case and close it yo for a week. I read that helps with the odor.
How much fabric of each pattern did you use?
Carrie Carrubba A half yard of each is maybe just enough. But I usually get a yard of each. That gives me plenty of extra in case I make a cutting or measuring mistake.
Hi! I love this video! Are you using the same decoupageglue on the back side of the fabric And on the case before you put the fabric on?
Thanks!
Glad you like the video. Yes you can us the same decoupage glue for every step.
Thank You! Have you done any recent ones?
There are a couple of new ones in my Etsy shop that I did a few months ago. www.etsy.com/shop/staceycreekdesigns
GORGEOUS!!
Janice Loves2Craft26 i
where did you get the fabric?
redtweety04 I found it on Etsy. It’s called Hello Paris fabric.
Stacey Creek thank you so much. its gorgeous
Don't you become attached to your projects? I do then it's hard for me to part with them and sell them. ; / Rats.
I do get attached. But after a sale I'm happy knowing my case has a home :-)
