I wish I was old enough to see them live when Dallas Taylor was in the band. This album really helped me in my christian faith and expressing that tin a way I understood best when I was younger.
I remember seeing Underoath 8ish years ago. Beginning of the second song Aaron busted the skin on his snare and just kept on playing while we were searching backstage for a new skin. Still one of the best shows I have ever seen. The best thing is after the show was done Underoath took my friend and I to Denny's(Tim bought me a huge plate of seasoned fries). Then, they needed directions across the bridge, so we rode with them and they took us home. Great band.
Original UnderOath is way better than the new one. Dallas has very good vocals, spoken-words and growls, they add a lot to the music and I would much prefer it to be with growls+spoken-words than with anything else, the words are clear most of the time, and the few times you don't hear it is because there is a lot of distortion going on.
This is an interesting look into the past...I miss when things were still like this, more about the passion and less about how tight your pants are and how many dance beats you can fit between breakdowns

The bassist did some amazing girl-sounding screams in the intro to imitate the sound effects that are used in the actual song, but I gurantee they were inhales. This is the best old Underoath song ever made.

i knew the songs by heart, i saw that band play 100 times. i knew the songs and let them move me. not anymore though. im 24 and the 18 year old karate kids would kick my teeth in.
There is one simple fact that ALL of you Dallas fan boys CAN'T deny. Spee has a more understandable and cleaner scream than Dallas did. I'm not knocking Dallas' ability to write songs, they were all very good, but Spencer has a broader range and clarity to his screams than Dallas ever did. Like I said, anyone with functioning ears CAN'T say I'm wrong. Underoath rock! (old and new)

@@nickwick35 I pretty much have read it was fabricate or just a rumor. If it was fabricated, it was probably to enforce their lyrics of someone losing a lover but knowing they're in Heaven watching over them. Which fits for old school Underoath.

i never said i hated underoath, i said they sucked back then. "they're only chasing safety" was when they got awesome. and ska never will be dead. its just taking a nap =]
This is definately underoath. This had to be at least 3 or 4 years ago. Because old underoath didnt have Spencer, which is why it sounds different, I would prefer listening to old underoath over new anyday.

also..i 4got 2 add....the band totally changed after Dallas left,thats what heats me...lol but i'll admit,i love a few of their newer songs....like When The Sun Sleeps,Writing On The Walls,etc.

They didn't kick him out, it was a decision made by the band that he should sort stuff out with his life (girlfriend problems) and leave because it was causing him a lot of stress and he wasn't being himself. He later married her, so it was probably the best decision he ever made, to him anyway. Such a loss for fans of their older music lol. I respect the dude immensely. Their older stuff makes me a better Christian for sure.
