QOTD: ⚡ Das Offene has created a tremendous following for them due to the winning combination of 1) high quality, 2) unique design, and 3) excellent backstory. Das Offene is a good example of makers who you know, despite the success they experience, put in every minute of work to get there. There are no shortcuts when you're involved in high-quality, hand-made products. What other makers do you feel meet the winning combination?
Craft and Lore; Emil Erwin; Saddleback Leather; Recycled Firefighter and for my handmade Japanese leather notebooks, Design-y, to name just a few. So many great US and Japanese makers out there. It’s costing me a fortune is import costs with our rubbish exchange rates now. 😂
I've been using the quickdraw in the same color scheme for the last year and a half. Solid construction, great materials, and has aged beautifully. 10/10 would buy again. If you're in the market for a minimalist wallet, you can't go wrong with this!
So glad I found your channel. I love your format short and sweet but full of all the info needed to make a good purchasing choice. I just ordered the Nimitz tonight. Keep on keepin on.
His wallets are just superb, hand made leather chunks of awesome-sauce! 😀 I’ve been rocking one of his Italian Shell Cordovan Topslider Quick draw wallets since Tuesday. Amazing leather and workmanship. 👌🏻🙂 Edited to say I’m using it with the GBP £10 and £5 notes. Our older larger £20 notes are going to be swapped for smaller ones in February 2020, so they’ll fit better then.
Just bought this wallet along with the mitchell money clip burgundy horween leather wallet. Mitchell wallet is amazing and this one as well. The only problem with this wallet is with real credit cards and money im only able to fit 4 cards otherwise its too tight of a fit. But it looks great.
Great wallet, but this is the Gundeck Quickdraw not the Nimitz. The Nimitz used another interior piece of leather to create more interior pockets and the back pocket. No biggie, just FYI.
Thank you, you are correct, this was pointed out to me after I recorded the video. I corrected the title and made mention of that mistake in the description.
Hey Mark! Have you considered reviewing their “Topsider Quickdraw” wallet? It is better than the Gun Deck, in my opinion, as you don’t even have to fold your cash to fit it! There’s some usability points right there! I’ve had it for a month, and I’d say it’s the second best wallet I’ve ever owned (second only to the Abrasus Small* Wallet)!
Thanks Bobby I took a closer look and you’re right. Must have been the color selection I chose that threw me off. I’ll correct the title and thumbnail.
I wuite like this one - short note though: you list this as 0.5 inches thick but even after loading it up you got something between 0.3 and 0.4 in the video.
Yes, in some of my earlier videos, I went off of what the manufacture noted before I began measuring them myself. This is an excellent wallet and loved by many on this channel.
I was just wondering if you have ever tried the Kam or the Kam + from Das Offebe Meer? If so what are your thoughts on it compared to this one? Thanks so much for all your reviews! Opening up a world of amazing leather wallets!
The problem with most US made wallets is that they best work with local currency size only..except when they make specific models to work with international currencies..and few of them do that.
Inu, I use UK £10 and £5 notes. Our new notes are polymer. As yet our existing £20 are not the best. However our new £20 from next year will fit better. So compare your Euro note sizes to those I’ve mentioned above and that will give you a perfect idea of what fits 👍🏻🙂
Both are good, but this week he's releasing a billfold gundeck. It looks and functions like a gundeck, but has a billfold pocket in it....a review is on the way.
@@walletopia waited for the topsider billfold review and decided to get the gundeck quickdraw. Got it in black and Bordeaux with white thread. I love it so far.
Many, many for both leather and thread you can choose from. If you go here and scroll down you'll see what's available, www.osleather.com/listing/590337958/the-gun-deck-quickdraw
Das [duzz] Offen [offence without CE ] Meer [mear] Sorry i know its annoying but speaking german as native language makes you hurt when you hear it pronounced that way , even tough i slaughter english words all the time
I think that was my first review of one of his wallets. I completely understand. I also speak Japanese so the linguistics difficulties are always present.
Do not buy these wallets. My girlfriend got me one as a gift & I loved it. After emailing them the lace they didn’t respond. When it came I quickly realized that the slightest moisture on your fingers made the ink run. I emailed them asking what I should do and no response again. So I put a leather protector on there and it left terrible stains. Thanks a lot for literally devastating me...
I have no idea what you ordered but that’s a lie I email them about something was wrong in my wallet and they responded immediately and sent me a new one without me even asking
I got this wallet based off the amazing ratings here. However, I don’t use this wallet at all and it lies unused somewhere in my home. Nothing against the quality of the wallet but the design sucks. It gets too fat and access to cards can get hard. I would rather stick to my cheap $10 amazon wallet which stays slim and has easy access to all my cards.
The product, is kinda a poor design, the leather may be of great quality, but the stitching looks like it can come un done over a period of time, plus the wallet is a bit pricey. Your better off with the lost Dutchman wallet, its quality is great as well as the stitching. Plus who has time to unfold the wallet to take out cash 💸 to pay then folding it back in your wallet. Todays society is changing, you need a minimalist wallet thats has quick access to both cash and cards. Example like Ekster wallet, or the Fidelo wallet with the magnetic money clip, or the Dango wallets that you can customize to fit your best needs, or the Travando wallet, the Zitahli wallet, sherman Brands wallets, or the House of jack co. Wallet, the money clip has a cool bottle opener. Those are some of the wallets that have easy access to cards and money when buying or purchasing, especially when your in line to check out, plus those wallets I mentioned are at affordable price, not no $59 to 79 like the Das Offene Meer wallet. That to pricey for a poor design wallet, but thats just my opinion. But overall great review! I really enjoy your reviews on your opinion on wallets, thank you for your time and effort that you take to inform the viewers on certain wallets. Your show is Awesome! 😊👍

Amen, love his design and the weight of the leather make the balance of the wallet excellent.
Hi, the color of the wallet is Natural and Blue Buttero? I love that colors and I'd like to buy the same one

Yay! Been wanting to see this one
Just bought this right now. Very excited! :)
Hope you enjoy it!
my next wallet - thanks
You won't be disappointed, excellent wallet.
I like how you completely missed a pocket during the card/cash insertion test. 🤣
Great wallet though and I love the channel.
Totally, I didn't realize it until after the review 🙄
Would that pocket fit foreign currency better?
The video is getting better I love it
Great review, can’t wait to get it

Nice choices! With the Das Offene I would suggest gradually putting additional cards in and it should stretch out within a couple weeks.
Waiting for mine to arrive. Great review man!
Thanks Enrique! You’re going to love it!
Just ordered The Nimitz. Hopefully I got the colors I like!
An amazing wallet, you'll love it!
Hopefully you weren't expecting the exact design on this review because this is the Quick Draw version not the Nimitz

@@walletopia Got it! Great review. One of my favorite wallet designs.
This isn't the Gun Deck Nimitz. This one is the Gun Deck Quick Draw.
Correct, I updated the title and other info after the fact.

That's the quickdraw wallet not the Nimitz

Can you just tuck EUR bills and use flap to close them as you did it with USD with other model?

If anyone is interested Das Offenemeer currently has a 20%-30% off sale. The offer runs through Friday.

Hi Jonathan, no I haven't yet, but plan too in the future.
Great review! What is the color of the buttero leather as seen in the video? Is it natural or whiskey?
It's the Wickett & Craig Russet.
The problem with most US made wallets is that they best work with local currency size only..except when they make specific models to work with international currencies..and few of them do that.
Yes, you're right and it's unfortunate that consideration isn't being made more often for size differences in wallets that are designed.

I think upto €20 sizes notes will fit well. Anything over approx 75mm width will not. So your €50 and above will not. The length is fine
@@Richard_Barnes Many thanks Richard for the info about £ notes. I think I'll add one of these wallets to my growing collection
Good review. Was the wallet given to you free to review? Or did you purchase it?
Thanks Matt, we purchase every wallet we review. And this one is a beauty.
walletopia that’s great to know. Another reason to like this channel so much.
I thought Das Offene Meer meant That Offends Me lmao
😂
What’s the color of the stitching that you chose on this wallet? Is it white, silver, etc?
Hi Matthew, it's silver.
Would anyone recommend this over the houbei? They both look great and I can’t decide which one I want.
