There are actually several versions of this song. I believe this one is the radio version. There is another version that the screaming is considerably more in the forefront. Both versions are great.
Yes! I’ve been hoping you’d get to Howard era Killswitch. Great starting point, also. If you’re wanting to continue on I’d recommend Rose of Sharyn. Awesome song and a cool music video. And there are some live versions if that is more your style. Awesome reaction!

Charis, your love of Howard/killswitch & the fact that you've done a reaction for Avenged Sevenfold leads me to the very necessary question of "Have you heard any Bullet For My Valentine or Trivium?" Simply because those 4 bands collectively were all major players in the 2000's/2010's metalcore uprising & they share a lot of similar elements & yet the distinct & more subtle differences that I think you will pick up on & appreciate. Especially between earlier works of Trivium, BFMV & Killswitch... They had very similar sounds yet each had their own take on it & their own niches etc.
Love this song and Howard era Killswitch. But sadly, all the videos from this era remixed the songs a bit to make the harsh vocals less emphasized to make it more mainstream. I recommend checking out some album versions of these songs with Howard.

The writer of the music is the guitarist, he's also the growls in the background behind Howard's vocals. That said Howard Jones is amazing. Watch him live. That man's voice is incredible.

Currently though, Howard is actually touring with Killswitch!!! I saw their show in Detroit a couple weeks back and it was fantastic to hear him singing Rose Of Sharyn and End Of Heartache again! Several people have said it before, but I'm gonna repeat it, just to be sure. Please check out pretty much anything from their live DVD 'Set This World Ablaze'. I can't even count the amount of times I watched that DVD. It's by far my favourite DVD ever.
Howard’s vocals and Adam’s incredible guitar skills is an insane combo. Now it’s not Howard, but instead Adam, but I cannot recommend enough would be Times of Grace. It’s a band that Adam D and Jesse(killswitchs original and now current vocalis) they started during a weird transition/phase Killswitch was going through. Some amazing songs in the album they dropped(The Hymn of a broken man)
2019? nah this was released in 2004. i was listening to this when I went to high school. Around the time i graduated in '08 Howard left Killswitch to pursue other projects
Killswitch is such a great band. I personally love Last Serenade. If you want to try something different, check out Hero of War by Rise Against. Fitting for now and a really good song, just bring a whole box of kleenex.
My Last Serenade was the first song I heard from them with Jesse and then I grew up with Howard and Jesse came back seamlessly for me. I can't get enough of this band!

I forgot killswitch would make 2 different versions of their songs where one has more prominent harsh vocals. beautiful song but you can imagine my disappointment when i didnt get my beautiful YEAH! at the beginning of the song.
Check out one of Howard's first bands. Blood Has Been Shed. I recommend the song "she speaks to me". The chorus at the end is great. Also "Uatu" is another good one.
If youre looking for something interesting to react to i would highly suggest looking into pretty much anything by Twelve Foot Ninja. They are a self-proclaimed "whatever-the-fuck-we-wantcore" band and they are a ton of fun to listen to. Id recommend the songs "Sick" and "One Hand Killing" if youre interested.

If you want Killswitch without Howard, you really cannot go wrong with "My Last Serenade" which had Jesse Leach as the frontman at that time. There's even a live version floating around where they were touring and Howard was the frontman at that point in time. They did "My Last Serenade" with Jesse as featured vocals alongside Howard, fairly similar to "Signal Fire". But the dual vocals between the two felt great. Jesse has a harsher vocal technique and a lot more aggression and Howard has more flow and elegance.

I used to play bass guitar in a band that did this song. It was always one of my favorites in our set. So much fun to jam out to.
