Was in the market to replace an XC40 T5. Nothing appealed, then I saw this video on a Friday night. Rewatched it with my wife. Both thought it looked fab. Managed to sort a test drive on the Saturday, completed our order on the Monday and collected the car a couple of weeks ago. Absolutely love it! Nice influencing!!
Had mine 2wks, it’s in the exact same colour config with a level 2 pack which is plenty to play with…!!!!!, but it’s the drive that just stands above everything else. It has that mini go kart feel but within a bigger car which you don’t notice when driving . I really think Mini have designed a winner here it’s fun and funky… well done Mini…
Had my MINI Countryman 2025 JCW for two months. Wife loved it so much we got one for her. Now we both drive home from work with a smile on our face. Brilliant car with that MINI go kart feel and room to get the dogs in. Thanks MINI…BTW loved the review Pete
As a 6'4 tall & big unit, I've never looked at mini since walking away from a potential first car back in the early 90s. I remember being peed off that i couldn't fit in the lime green (hand painted) rust bucket that i really wanted. 35 years later a lot has changed but I'm still a big'un. This countryman might mean i finally get into a mini
@@PetrolPed Come on Ped , I know your a brand ambassador but FGS it looks the size and similar shape to the Range Rover . You keep screaming, go kart feel in this video , yet it weighs 1800 kg , you couldn’t be any less obvious if you tried .
I completely completely get your enthusiasm for this car Pete, seems an incredible car. Me and my Mrs have said this is in contention to be our next car, wouldn’t be surprised if we get one
4:38 I will say, although its not as small as the name Mini would lead you to believe (countrymans have always been big), this does look like a very small SUV, which totally still fits the small, MINI theme.
Thanks again for a great review! I have ordered one. I currently drive a 2023 Mini Cooper S Resolute edition and love driving it but after seeing this model at the Auto show had to get one. Nice to see someone who's owned a JCW before love the new JCW. Keep up the great videos!
As a Clubman SD owner I find it interesting how the Mini has evolved. Love that interior. So funky and nice to see Mini maintain its quirky features. Great review as usual.
As you may remember...I love my Clubmans..on my 3rd, now in JCW guise, sadly no more Clubmans in the future. I've always thought the Countryman too big, too ugly......but........but.......the refresh has worked wonders, in the absence of my fave.....this is definitely a contender!
I was very anti when I first saw pictures, however the new Countryman is the best looking of the new models. I really enjoyed the review, it looks and no doubt feels a proper premium car. I normally buy cars when they are 5 years old and affordable for me. I’d definitely be interested in one of these in the future.
The Sat Nav with the Augmented Reality is awesome, very clever. Sat Navs have come a long way (No Pun Intended) love your Enthusiasm Peter, there's no doubting that you're a massive Mini fan, and that's one massive Mini. 😃👍
Thanks for that, very useful piece. We're picking up our very same model on Monday and trading in our 2020 JCW Countryman. Looking forward to the new experience!😀
Fantastic review Pete & I test drove one two weeks ago & I totally agree with everything you said about this awesome car good old fashioned petrol engine enjoyment bang on!!!👌🏻👍🏻😎
Hey Pete! Love your thoughts on the Mini Countryman! We Love our New 2024 Countryman and she handles the corners beautifully!!! And you do find yourself smiling 😊
Cracking review, Pete, I could be tempted. I can see a Charlie Clubman replacement in the offing, with obligatory red mudflaps too, which wouldn't be too out of place on this colour combination.
Looks funky like all minis great to drive and like you said puts a massive smile on your face I’m now on my second mini and 1st jcw 2023 and absolutely love them and that’s coming from a fiesta mk 8 St. great video mate keep up the good work
Had a 2011 Clubman Cooper S with a rare auto gearbox a few years ago. Absolutely loved it and and still miss it (I changed it for a Tesla). If this new Countryman has the space and comfort for longer journeys, like driving to the Alps with teens in the back, it could be a contender for our next car.
My favorite piece of road Pete Bibury to the A40, I drive it every Friday, they resurfaced half of it last year great improvement if its clear what a quick drive, glad you enjoyed it in the new Mini which looks really good. I then have a slow drive through Burford and onto Harry's favorite road, love my Friday afternoon drive each week

I much prefer the looks vs the old one - chunky, lots of features. And I love that some people think it’s ugly, too big etc. Difference in opinions means more diversity in car design. Which is good.
Was in the dealers yesterday (BMW MOT) and they had one of these in the showroom, same colours as this one, very smart inside and out. I think they had an electric demonstrator too.
Wow Sir Pete! Great review! The clubman and countrymen are definitely on my radar! I’m not sold on the front end design but the rest of the countrymen exterior and interior are great! Definitely makes me want to get one! Excellent review Sir Pete
Great review mate. Wasn't sure on the looks when I first saw it but it's certainly growing on me now. Will you be reviewing the C & S versions ? I've got an extended test drive in a couple of weeks with the S and can't wait.
I like the interior colour scheme. My OAP body would also appreciate climbing in through the rear doors. Why Austin never made these as 4-door cars back in my day is quite beyond me. I'd have bought one then. Ah, well...better late than never. Aloha!
Watching @Petrol Ped Mini reviews you're wondering how he's not yet part of the Mini Marketing Team! 🎉 On the other hand, the new JCW Countryman is an exceptional product, more exclusive than its rivals and really appealing for the young and dynamic audience 💪✌
Should be calling it the Maxi now... Great looking car, I've had augmented reality on satnav on my Merc since 2018 but that system works really well by the looks of it!
Thanks for the great review Pete. i hate it when people always say it's not a MINI anymore. what about the people who still love the brand and need a larger car. What about the original Golf and the Gold 7 and 8 why do they not say.....This is not a Golf anymore. I think you will end up buying one.
I was so glad I saw this review by you. I was very impressed with this JCW when I looked around it in the dealers. I’m seriously thinking of trading my 2022 JCW Coupe for this new Countryman as I do need a car with more space. I have a test drive booked for tomorrow so your review is very timely as I respect your thoughts on MINI’s. 🥳
@@PetrolPed Test drive done. Impressive and it wasn’t even the JCW model. Impressed with the way it drove and the build quality and so was the wife! Placed an order for a JCW version with Level 3 pack. Love my JCW Coupe but I need something bigger going forward and this still keeps me in a Mini. Other option was a Range Rover Evoque (I’ve owned 2 before) but they are a bit “grown up” for me !… 🤣
I recently bought a 2024 Clubman JCW. I thought about the new Countryman JCW, but I just really preferred the look of the Clubman and the feeling of being down close to the road. Your enthusiasm for Charlie (rest in peace) may have also been influential. 😉 Ultimately I doubted whether Mini could preserve a proper JCW driving experience in the new, bigger Countryman. I love my Clubman, absolutely no regrets there. But I’m glad to hear the next generation is still a great drive.
We all have a soft spot for a mini. I know it has grown but so have all the other cars out there. Looks ok to me. Is it reliable? Its predecessors were not great on reliability. I like the interior and your right that round central display is an evolution using technology.
Fantastic car!!!!! Love your review. I'm in Canada out west near the rockies with the wide winding roads. Perfect for this car. Btw, price here for a fully loaded JCW Countryman is around 35K pounds.
Good review. Interesting that they came out with the top spec JCW version first. The more standard Countryman S all4 will be out later this year. I drive a gen3 Countryman (F60), and look forward to test driving this new gen4. I appreciate your enthusiasm and your love for the Mini brand. Keep up the good work.
Love your passionate review. I can feel your happiness. I prefer this Mini countryman to BMW X1/X2. I don’t need JCW version, but S is enough. The B48 engine is really good.
I get the impression you were a little smitten with the JCW Countryman, maybe now on your wanted list!! It certainly sounds the part from the four exhausts. I love the styling, in particular the rear end. I’m certain that infotainment screen holds a lot more display info than you have shown or know about. Like you said at the end, have a word with MINI, we need a longer review of this fabulous motor. Nice video too Pedro.
@@PetrolPed Could have said this better. I have sat in a JCW. I have now had a drive in a new CM, with the 1.5 engine. Pokey lump and I had forgot how planted Minis are on the road. Only compromised by the seats for us but then my daily is an XC90.
Great video as ever. I’m guessing it probably because it’s what I’m used to being there. But think it would look better with a screen in front of the steering wheel rather than all being in that screen in the middle. Although I guess you have the head up display. How does CarPlay look on that screen?
I think I would need to see it in the flesh before I said yes but after another excellent review by yourself it is getting a thumbs up so far. I do like the rear with the quad exhausts. I like the rear spoiler. As you know I do like my JLR cars & although I have never owned an Evoque I have driven plenty. The Countryman would be the only other car I would consider in this segment other than the E-Pace. My only negative is the dashboard in that spec with the red but I am sure there are other options. I bought my JCW hatch after seeing a Countryman JCW & liking the styling so if I was in the market I would certainly consider this car.
Excellent review Mr. Ped. We currently own an F56 JCW hatch, an F57 JCW cab, and an F60 JCW Countryman [306] - so there's approx 850bhp of Mini metal sat in our garage right now! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this new model. It looks like a Mini LR Defender - which is no bad thing? Price is reasonable - if comparing to similar models from competitors (Stelvio, X3, GLC, Tiguan R, etc) - and residuals on the JCW's are historically at the higher end of the market. Can't wait to get a drive in one of these!
Drove one on Saturday morning and loved it enough to buy one. Night and day from the bloated and floaty previous version, just waiting for confirmed build slot and delivery date now
Always love your reviews Pete and it’s another job well done 👍 Tech spec Is great on this new Countryman JCW, there’s no doubting that, looks like a fabulous car to drive but hey! What’s going on with that interior? Those red stripes on the dashboard, that over thick sterling wheel and although it looks funky am not sure how easy the round info screen would be to live with. Hope you can get one for a week or two, that’d be an interesting vlog 😁
I definitely like the look of this car, especially in that black/red paint scheme and with 300 ponies I’m sure it’s fun. The design detail on the inside is good, something a bit different and I would definitely spec that pan roof which lightens and shows off the interior. My big bug bear (apart from the price) is that enormous key! What on Earth are you supposed to do with that?? It must ruin the line of your carefully curated PP wardrobe! 😂
A part of me hates the idea of a 4,4m 1.7 tonne mini. But if you buy an suv anyway it can just have an interior as this one and drive like a super mini. I might believe you're going to buy one.
Wow Pete a Petrol version. I b et you're tempted though to add one to your collection ? I totally agree also, This car makes you see the end of complications !! 👍👍😂
Come on Pete own up, if you manage to talk Mini into on a long term test you just know you’ll be ordering one at the end. Bikes, dogs, long trips, it’s just made for the job. 😎😎
Yes Pete.... got you written all over it. We had a few through at the dealership for new reg day (including a 47k JCW). They are big but built on the new BMW X1 chassis (the JCW has 20" rims) so do handle & feel upmarket. A look of Range Rover at the rear as you said, a full black one we had was compared to a mini RR Cullinan (BMW family I guess)!😂 Night time is interesting as the themes you played with include matching led pattern projection across the dashboard (giving a completely different looking dash for each one). Big step forward all round, the only thing i'd say though is ..... Keep the petrol pooch & pup off of those lovely woven door cards & dash 🤦♂️ Oh & the interior door handles look like Nissan 350Z external ones.... not sure why. Great car though.

Definitely need to see it in person 👍
Night and day from the bloated and floaty previous version, just waiting for confirmed build slot and delivery date now
Nice 👌
Always love your reviews Pete and it’s another job well done 👍 Tech spec Is great on this new Countryman JCW, there’s no doubting that, looks like a fabulous car to drive but hey! What’s going on with that interior? Those red stripes on the dashboard, that over thick sterling wheel and although it looks funky am not sure how easy the round info screen would be to live with.
Hope you can get one for a week or two, that’d be an interesting vlog 😁
Thanks 👍
I definitely like the look of this car, especially in that black/red paint scheme and with 300 ponies I’m sure it’s fun. The design detail on the inside is good, something a bit different and I would definitely spec that pan roof which lightens and shows off the interior. My big bug bear (apart from the price) is that enormous key! What on Earth are you supposed to do with that?? It must ruin the line of your carefully curated PP wardrobe! 😂
300BHP, 0-60~5.4 secs, AWD, space, great looks inside & out…… it’s a Peach. Great overview.
👍
Did you really say great looks "inside"? You must work for MINI.
@@jpii8468ive been in it and it’s actually quite good
A part of me hates the idea of a 4,4m 1.7 tonne mini.
What this space 😜
Your voice and facial expressions just give you away mate. Clearly it was all over after about 100 metres of driving. 😆😆
Beautiful car. Not to everyones taste. Great review as always Pete. P.S. I hope Tracey has hidden your credit card!! 😂
I think I’ll need to hide hers once she drives one 😂
@@PetrolPed true!!
Yes Pete.... got you written all over it.
We had a few through at the dealership for new reg day (including a 47k JCW).
They are big but built on the new BMW X1 chassis (the JCW has 20" rims) so do handle & feel upmarket.
A look of Range Rover at the rear as you said, a full black one we had was compared to a mini RR Cullinan (BMW family I guess)!😂
Night time is interesting as the themes you played with include matching led pattern projection across the dashboard (giving a completely different looking dash for each one).
Big step forward all round, the only thing i'd say though is .....
Keep the petrol pooch & pup off of those lovely woven door cards & dash 🤦♂️
Oh & the interior door handles look like Nissan 350Z external ones.... not sure why.
Great car though.
What a brilliant review!
Thanks 🙏🏻
Evening all! Hope everyone is doing well and have a great weekend.
Good morning!
