    • @joeyhoy1995
      @joeyhoy1995 2 дня назад

      The language is pretty clear on the back of the card, and has been clear for years. They made absolutely zero guarantees that the patch was worn by that player at any point. I honestly thought it was a cheap fanatics jersey that they pulled off the shelf. So these actually turning out to be player worn at some point makes it less annoying. There is no lie, no conspiracy, just people who have zero reading comprehension skills.

      Any patch/material card should have the material from a game worn piece of uniform clothing, especially on higher end expensive cards. "Player worn" is acceptable if it comes an inexpensive box/pack, but the item must still be from the actual player on the card. When these cards first started coming out we didn't have this issue, the cards included actual material from the player pictured on the card. It's just more greed from an industry that is already making tons of money.

      @@notsosilentmajority1 the typically do the not associated thing with rookies... I'm not sure if you know this or not, but rookies often haven't played a game when many of these sets go into production. It's not always easy to get whole game used jerseys so this makes sense. Especially given they started this during the height of COVID, and have had issues with production ever since. I get the frustration, but I don't think it's greed. It's logistics.
      To make these at scale they'd likely need to secure 10-15 jersey's within the first 20 games for the early season product. Keep in mind a player might want to keep their debut jersey, give some to family and friends, jersey swaps are a thing now too, and likely have other deals in place.
      Look at Topps, the got Wemby's debut jersey, that was probably in the contract for the autos. And it was in a product that released around the start of the 24-25 season, a whole year late. I don't blame Panini for this. This is clearly a supply and demand issue.

    If "Not from any specific game or event" means "not from any player" then I don't understand english anymore. I get that they are possibly lying but shouldn't they say "not associated with any specific player, game or event"? We need to go back to a world where words matter and mean something.

      They aren't making any promises as to who the rookie patch was, or wasn't worn by. It's pretty clear and anyone with a functional brain would tell you this isn't some sort of shocking thing. The language is clear. They aren't lying. I don't understand the 'issue.' If the card says it doesn't belong to the player pictured, it doesn't belong to them. What's so hard about that?

    First off you noobs that came in the hobby in 2020 need to understand the difference between a jersey and a Patch! A plain jersey piece is just a jersey! A "PATCH" IS PART OF THE PATCH OFF THE JERSEY! example from the letter patches, number patches, or team logo... these are patches! A rookie game used plain jersey auto is NOT AN RPA! it's a rookie game used jersey auto.. if it has an actual piece of a patch off the jersey it's an Rpa.

  • @TheYoyo
    @TheYoyo 18 часов назад +3

    What makes me laugh as Panini is losing the licenses you see a lot of the top rookies signing exclusive deals with Fanatics/Topps. On top of not having even player worn for rookie relics you have people paying 4 to 5 figures for a NFL Shield or Logoman from a jersey purchased off the rack. Absolutely bonkers. At this point if you aren't going to have authentic player/game worn jersey then at least have really good patches instead of single color napkins. Panini just found a way to increase their profits and sadly it's collectors faults because they keep buying them at high prices.

      @joeyhoy1995 2 дня назад

      See, the event worn cards are often generic jerseys and they like to use the numbers 80 88 to get thicker patches from the number. Look up the picture of, I believe, Reggie Bush, putting on like 15 replica jerseys at an event, so they could call them 'event worn.' This also means the back nameplate could be a totally different player, but that doesn't matter, it was still 'worn' by the player. Would I rather a practice jersey than that nonsense? Sure, but the language from a legal stand point is still very clear, and all the information you could need about this is already available online. People are just being stupid at this point.

    I don’t blame panini, I blame all the breakers who were jacking the prices up to begin with when they seen the card craze going wild and all the people who still pay these ridiculous prices for a piece of cardboard. Of course they’re gonna continue to jack prices on boxes. Why aren’t all patch cards of game worn material? The swatches are so small u can’t tell me they could cut up 3-4 jerseys and be good for the whole production run of that player…now I’m guessing marketing and printing and developing these cards isn’t cheap but let’s be serious, for what they charge and for what we 90% of the time take a loss on, unless there is gold imbedded in the paper, there’s no reason they can’t get actual game used jerseys, to at least slightly justify their ridiculous prices.

    The hobby cycles. Early patches were game worn earlier because it was easier to get them. But today players don’t give up jerseys as much. It’s not manufacturing fault however they have devalued patches with the BS.
    Now look at the debut patch. It’s the hottest chase in the hobby. IMO all future patches should use this model. Complete or partial patches only, no jersey napkins, they are game worn on specific days or events. Pre season game patches. Bowl game patches. Father’s Day patch only worn on Father’s Day. Cancer patches that contribute to cancer research etc.
    Only game worn moving forward. We can do it!
