I think it's because there's been a large Asian community in the Bay for 100 years so they're more Americanized than more recent immigrants from those countries. Combine that with the popularity and pre-dominance of Hip-Hop Culture in general, or as I call it, Bronze (incorrectly known as "black") makes things different in The Bay.

They always had a west coast groove that basically made up my foundation in dance. I’ve been in one workshop in my entire life, no lessons or anything, I just learned through observation, and music ability has always been in my bloodline lmao. By the time I moved to Hawaii, the west side vibe felt like home again. Crazy thing is I know these moves, and just never knew they had a name or represented the bay. Now I’m in San Diego, and everybody asking me how to do these moves they feel the hype for but don’t know how to do😂 that’s just my story with all this, but you guys look like some ppl I’d definitely be hanging with all the time.
